As a Black dude who's also in the software development world as a freelancer, I'm very happy to see you posting. Wishing you the best from the other side of the US.

Hey man, I want to say thank you for your videos. I was a warehouse worker and learned how to code. I invested 2 years of my life learning, and it paid off. I'm a software engineer at a big tech company and can support my family; I don't worry about if I can put food on the table. What I worry about now is growing. Thank you for your videos it really got me through a lot. For any black people watching this channel, keep going, and don't be afraid to ask for help to get where you want. You can even ask me lol

@@IsraTech1 I found my first position at a company called Atlassian. Anything is possible, but don’t put a timeline on yourself. When I started, I just kept doing it every day, and I thought I would get a job in 5 years plus. Doing it every day and tackling new challenges made sure I was ready for the opportunities and didn’t have to get prepared for the opportunities.

Dude you can do so much with one year. I learned frontend development and UI/UX design simultaneously over the course of 7 months when I got laid off back in 2020- They're life-changing skills and give you so much confidence in life in general. There are only a few skills out there that scale infinitely and allow you to make shit out of thin air: sales, coding, design, copywriting, marketing and content creation. You can trade way less of your time for $$$ in these areas. IMO, $$$ = freedom. You stress less about day-to-day stuff and opens you up to more opportunities BECAUSE there's less shit to stress about. Today I'm the Lead UX Designer at a large e-commerce company based in California and freelance in the Web3/NFT space as a UI/UX designer and frontend developer. IMO, you HAVE to be a self-starter if you're trying to get into tech (especially if you're self-taught). Being passionate about tech makes it easier to be a self-starter. 👌 Passionate people tend to be self-starters so they learn, build, explore, make mistakes and fix things all on their own- regardless of fear/uncertainty/doubt.

I'm a senior mechanical engineering student who's only ever worked clerk jobs before. I can relate to that previous self-destructive mindset you spoke of. It's pretty common in retail and service industry to operate that way, because you are taught that you exist to work and not work to exist. I'm hoping to find a decent company like you have while I pursue my PE license. Congrats and best of luck, man.

Excellent video, I like your take on it. I've been learning JavaScript for about 10 months now. I am learning there are all sorts of developers and so far I managed to figure out what I don't like but I am not clear on what I do like. I know without a doubt I don't like web design using figma. I enjoy coding yet at the same time I do like css for basic designs and I am even starting to learn some animation now. From your experience do you know of positions which require from you the basics of css like flexbox and basic things like position, hover, very basic. With knowledge of React but with only with knowledge of 3 hooks only? UseState, useEffect and useRef .Thanks man

I'll be 38 tomorrow and this has been one of the best years of my life since busting into tech doing IT support. I finally had enough money to travel to my fam for thanksgiving and have another trip planned for Dec. I started coding in Sept this year and haven't looked back since. For the people who are saying its to late, its never to late keep pushing, keep striving to become better. Great video!

I’m trying to take the self taught route because I have patience financially due to my trucking business but I second guess it sometimes because I’m afraid I’ll do all this work learning and never get a job because I don’t have a degree. But I want yo thank you because your videos always pop up in time to reinforce my motivation

This is what I needed to hear from anybody. I feel lost recently. I really don't feel motivated to finish my "audiovisual communication career" and I've been struggling from this because I feel I'm betraying my parents, specially my mom. I'm now studying to apply a coding bootcamp and I feel like I found my element. The way you explain the experience you have about coding and life in general makes me feel motivated and happy. Sorry if my english is bad, but I really wanted to thank you. Thank you for your content and for your pure soul. 🙏🏾
