I could be wrong Rock. But I think the glass piece you found was made special for legs from some sort of furniture like a sewing machine or rod iron bed. The feet on the legs probably had that shape. I have round ones for my grandma`s old Singer sewing machine.

It very well could be. What threw me off was the weird recess. I think all the other i found wewre round on the inside. But this could be for legs of tables.

Frame 10:30 See the spikes under each side of the skull ? That salt/pepper shaker was a nodder. There would have been 2 skull sitting on a base, the 2 spikes would be what sat on the base & they would rock back an forth on that base. Those are very neat looking shakers ! :~)

Here's the 2nd video and man you found some great Marles, and I think that Saltshaker Skull just might have been part of a Nodding Skulls Set that sat down in a small porcelain dish / box where both shakers nodded. Much love.

Yea. It is where an entire town dumped. It really is not as big as you would think. Most of the trash is to new....1970's. Finding and staying in the 1940-1955 layer is kinda tough. At least i am in it now, I just hope it doesnt rain a bunch and flood the hole...LOL

You're back on the good ones, Rocks. That skull salt shaker was part of a set of shakers called "Laughing Skulls." My mother-in-law had a set of them. They had long stems and sat down in a ceramic box, very cute.❤

In 1953 through 1955 I was a marble PLAYER/SHOOTER. (4 grade through 6) I would take a pocket full of marbles to school and 2 pockets full home. When we played at recess it was likely someone would Yell out starter rules. I those days there were a lot of - Pee Wee's - Chinese checker solid color "Red, blue, yellow, green, violet and pink"- and cat eyes. Someone would YELL, NO Pee Wee's, NO checker's, NO cat eyes - these were less desirable's... So, when you find them (dig then and go on) I have anxiety face and think to myself, I know where you can dig mine. I said I was a SHOOKER. I shot then with my bean flip over across the road into the cow pasture across from 1926 N Gregg where I lived till age 19. The 50"s were the "good old days" weren't they? But forget my place, it’s an Industrial Park with buildings and asphalt drives now. How times change... My wife and I bought the marbles back in the 90's - in yard sales, flea markets, 14 states and latest my next-door neighbor 2023. Yes, still collecting... Have a good one.
@rockscousteau5 ай бұрын
Yea. Around all the schools that were open during that time. if you can find grassy areas. You can just section off areas and dig the ground like a shallow privy...and find LOADS of MARBLES. There are more on the 1950's school yards than in the dumps. The school is right down the road....I did some test holes one times and every hole i dug had a few
