Thank you for the thorough review of the Lamar dump trailer. Thanks too for sharing your knowledge. I’m compelled to mention that even though the axles have zerks, you should still inspect the bearings every 2 years or 10K miles, whichever comes first. Yes, you should check & grease the axles regularly, but also yes, your bearings will last longer if completely repacked (lots of KZbin videos on how to do this - it’s not that complicated, and requires only a few basic tools). Repacking your bearings is also be a great time to check your trailer’s drum brakes - especially important on a dump trailer. If you’re trying to decide among brands, I suggest researching who owns the company & how they treat their employees. Happy employees do better work. I mention this since ownership of PJ & Big Tex has changed, and not for the better. I love my 2016 Big Tex, but I would not buy one today (the venture capital firm that bought Big Tex is cutting too many corners trying to squeeze out more profit). My only concern about the Lamar is / are the incomplete welds. Not sure if this is the case on all of the welds, but it stood out on the supports for the top rail. This might be a spot where rust will start, depending on the powder coat process Lamar used. Nice to have the roller cover assembly protected by the front piece of the top rail. Gravity down is a battery-saving feature. A little patience will let your battery last twice as long if you otherwise treat it right. Just remember that Deep Cycle (“Marine”) batteries are NOT like the battery in your truck (you should research how Marine batteries work - it will save you $ from ruining your battery by not maintaining it). Deep Cycle batteries last longest if plugged in EVERY day after use, or trickle charged when not used for a week or more. Yes, the battery will trickle charge when connected to your truck, but trips less than 4+ hours won’t do much. Lots of thoughtful features on the Lamar that are not found on their competitors. IMHO, Lamar trailers are worth considering for your next trailer.

I have the same trailer. I bought it in October of 22 and have been very happy with it! I had it narrowed down to Diamond C and Lamar. Lamar makes great quality trailers. Your gonna love it👍🏻👍🏻

hi I also compared Diamond vs crazy horse dump box , that has 16 mil all through the box. and Diamond C is on my Pic. I'm concerned about my honda ridgeline rtl-e. you can only tow 5k. I need a bigger truck.

Interstate batteries used to be the best. The last five years I’ve gone through several they just don’t seem to be made like they used to be. I’ve been using the Sam’s Club and Walmart deep cycle batteries for the last 10 years and I’ve had good luck with them.

Great video, just sold my 7x12 2015 load trail to up grade to a bigger 7x16 Lamar and I like it! Your video helped me feel good about my purchase lol I almost got a horizon brand or a raw maxx from same dealer but the hardware and build looked much cheaper and price wasn’t much more for the Lamar, with rebates I only paid 12500 no spare though, but mine came with back drop legs like you want idk why yours didn’t
@StevesBeyondRepair5 ай бұрын
I love this trailer! I too was a bit disappointed that no drop legs were standard. Still need to build some. Thank you for clicking on this and especially for taking the time to leave me a nice comment. 👍

@@nateb7778 for me, the manual one is fine. If I used it every day in a construction setting, and needed to take it off my truck multiple times, no doubt I would spring for the hydraulic jack! At the time I purchased it, I had no idea that was an option. Depending on price, I mighta got it.👍

Hopefully the Lamar is good but Powder-coat is absolutely trash most of the time, with the exception of Diamond C from what I have seen. PC gets chips and water infiltrates under the powder-coat and stays wet rusting the steel. It may not be an issue in TX but I won’t buy another powder coated trailer in snow country. I’m fully stripping and recoating with por-15

@@StevesBeyondRepair I just checked that video out and your TX heat sure cooked that trailer! I’ll be using it over much more heavily rusted metal than what you had there and mine will be mostly underneath the deck. The exposed portions will get an etching primer and a urethane coat of paint. There are also a few areas that will get raptor liner applied for impact and road spray protection. I’ll still overcoat the Por15
