I have had people kind of want to frown on me dumpster diving. There is just so much waste. But then they see what you can find and suddenly change their tune. I also love to find breads and fruits that may not be great, but I bring them home to feed all of the deer that come to my home. The deer hear me come out to the balcony and all I have to do is say “who is hungry?” And here they come. Sometimes up to 15-20 deer at a time.
@pattiwhite95753 жыл бұрын
I just hate the waste of all this food. Why they do not donate to shelters I''ll never know. Nice that you feed the deer. But, you are creating a bad scenario with wild life. They will no longer forage and become dependent on you. It opens up facts that they will not survive on their own. It is a different take on it.
@gscrafty48013 жыл бұрын
@@pattiwhite9575 I have been feeding these deer for years. They forage and all that as normal deer do. I also live in an area with savage Fire seasons. This year we had almost a million acres burn around us. (The Dixie Fire in Northern California) I make sure I have something to feed them when they stop by. And I enjoy them bringing their young. Maybe it’s not the best thing to do, but it makes my heart happy so I will be continuing to do so. As to the donation of foods from stores to shelters, here in California many laws have been passed to prevent stores from donating. I still do not understand why these laws have been made. Have a great day.

@@gscrafty4801 Good for you. The wildlife in N. Ca. are going to suffer this winter because of the fires. Wildlife will need all the help they can get. I fed the wild ones here in my area of S. Ca. after the Cedar Fire in 2003. They didn't become dependant on my offerings, as soon as the grasses began to grow again, they were fine.

Most of the food u pull was really good looking. In my area my city has food pantry building. They have most of our local food stores donate any food Produce and bakery products to the pantry. It saves the food from going to waste. We can go two times each month. To save some for everyone.

I love watching all different types of dumpster diving. (I really liked it when I was the one who was doing the dumpster diving way back 30 years ago. I was a travel nurse who donated my diving to shelters and other needy people in my off hours.) I did live in Tx. and northern CA, but now I'm retired in Oregon. I really envy your abilities to do all the thing you do for your family and the other people who receive your treasures. Keep up with the good work!
