Hello you awesome people out there in KZbin land how are you all today? Now a lot of people will probably think these pieces i find were planted but i can assure you this was just a great find. Like i say in the video i just cant understand why anyone would throw this cable out??? Well it worked out for me as i had an awesome huge bar to add to the collection and i had fun melting and pouring as Copper when heated enough will pour like water . Now if only i could Figure out how to get rid of the holes i would be happy. Ive tried super heating the mold , Having a flame on the copper while pouring , Pouring on a vibrating mold etc . Oh well not to worry i love all the bars i make . I hope you all enjoy the video and have a great weekend and ill see you all next friday for some Sand Casting Swarf . If you don’t want the Merch but still want to support the channel Simply donate some of your time to help support the channel just by allowing the ads to play through this will help out a lot and that’s how I make a bit extra revenue and the good thing is more revenue means more giveaways👊🏻😄. A better way to support the channel is play one of my playlists on your computer before you walk away from it and let it play through that really helps as well but don’t ever feel as though you need to watch the ads if you don’t want to simply skip them and move into the video it’s completely up to you and I understand if you don’t have the time to do so👌🏻and like I always say if you like the rings shown and used in this video be sure to check out the description where you can get 20% off the already discounted rings using my code and if you want to try your hand at melting yourself you can buy the burner on its own or the whole furnace set up and I can organize a 5% link for you off the total furnace price just email me on bigstackddddd@mail.com 😁👍🏻.

HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it??????.

Hey there all you beautiful people how are you all today? Doing great I hope. Today is one of the simpler melts where I go through a dumpster after a heap of work was done on a local site and honestly when you see what I find you’ll think this was a setup but I can assure you I had no idea this was there. The good thing is I made a nice big bar that’s a very welcome addition to the stack, to sit back and check it out let me know what you think in the comments and have an awesome week . I’ll be doing a couple of sand casting pieces next Friday so hopefully I’ll see you all then😁👋🏻

Reminds me of bad old days when I used to work at a warehouse, full with cables. The parent company would tear down buildings and bring tons upon tons of old electric cables, engines/turbines/electric stations and piping to our warehouse. We'd strip them down, prepare, bag and sell them. We used machines like one at 2:03, or/and something that was put together by ourselves. In this video, cables are cleaner then baby's ass, but what I used to work with, was devil's outhouse itself: cable layers (rubber, in between strands, coatings) were basically glued together with some kind of thick, dark, dirty lube that was sticky as hell. Add dirt in a mix and you'd be so dirty by the end of the shift, that your overalls would be gleaming in the light and almost hard as metal sheets. You can imagine how much stuff there were in old soviet buildings that were being demolished. Our company would get nice profit. Tons upon tons of copper, aluminum, lead, steel (cables were wrapped in thin steel sheet, we had to manually unwrap hundreds of meters of them), even some brass stuff. Add -20℃ or +27℃ during the year in that warehouse, low wages, useless and angry bosses and you get a recipe for work related depression :D It ended when owners of demolishable buildings realized they should take out cables themselves, before selling the whole object to our parent company... I do sh*t work today as well, but it is MILES better then stuff back then. I'm now a stage technician at a local opera (lots of manual labor to load, unload and build show decorations) and I even get an occasional small, utility roles during theatrical shows. I'd say nice change of pace, LOL. Thanks for a video, and cudos to those who read my blabblering. Just felt like sharing. P.S. The "Dogfather" shirts made my day.

@@mattbanks3517 you know there are reasons why we use copper instead. Yes conductivity wise aluminum is just short of copper and can replace copper in situations. But the material properties of aluminum is far inferior compared to copper, it is more brittle which makes it hard to use thinner Al conductors. It expands more than copper under heat which causes problems in homes built in the 60's as Al wires would get loose over time. However aluminum is used often in thicker gauge wiring as it's far more economical compared to copper and theres less concerns regarding the aforementioned problems.

it's to do with the electrons. when you add heat, they get 'excited', so they gain energy and jump up energy levels within the atom. because that state is unstable, the electrons jump back down to their ground state, which releases the excess energy as photons, which results in the flame changing colour. copper's normally a green-blue colour in the flame test. hard to see here, but at around 6:00 you can kind of make out the greenish colour. also, they have machines that show the full spectrum of the frequency of light each individual electron releases, it's pretty cool stuff

Copper is a very cool element
@MinecrafterRedstoner
@MinecrafterRedstoner 3 жыл бұрын
@@lorenzostransportvlogs And to add on top of that, the amount of electrons and the quantum level that they're at will make the colour vary. That's why a copper flame is not the same colour as a strontium flame, because their electrons quantum level aren't the same (valence), so the energy to excite the electron from these two metals is not the same, thus the different colour. The more energy it takes to excite the electron, the more the colour of the flame goes to blue, and vice versa for red (see the spectrum for reference). You can actually guess the colour by the quantum number of the valence electrons of the element. The lower the quantum number, the higher the energy, because the electrons are closer to the nucleus, thus harder to excite (more energy required), explaining why strontium is generaly red and copper more on the green side!

Why would the scrap value of a bar be more than the bare wires?
@1staryelpreview915
@1staryelpreview915 3 жыл бұрын
@@captainoates7236 because it’s been processed a bit. They don’t have to mess with all the loose bits of copper as well. I’m not sure if this applies, I guess it depends, but it’s always cheaper to transport 1kg of copper in a bar vs 1kg of copper wire cause you can pack way more
