I grew up in the 80s, one of our best childhood jokes/insults was, “your momma is dumpster diver & wears rubber combat boots!” If you would have told me then that one day, the chosen one would make dumpster diving so cool that thousands of people would watch videos of him doing it, I would have laughed until my side hurt! 😂

That plastic wrap would be great disposable dropcloth, if nothing else. If you're refinishing something and want to keep the stain from going everywhere, lay the plastic underneath and bin it when you're through. (from trash you come and to trash you shall return) Rogers & IS = International Silver = silverplate. They mark it sterling if it's solid.

The globes from the ceiling fans can be recycled into candle holders. Invert the globe on a painted or varnished square board, add flower, ribbon, twine, etc decor around the bottom. Or any Holiday silk flowers. Insert tea light candles (wax or battery operated) & you're ready to sell on Etsy, or give as gifts.

Air fryers are wonderful. I use mine a lot. Frozen french fries are the best in it. Someone doing remodeling on an old home would probably take that cast iron sink and re do it. The brass could be used in an old house remodel. Worth seeing if an antique store will buy those brass and cast iron pieces.

Hey Mike!!!! Nice finds again!!! I don't know if you now know... but if you find "silver" flatware and it has an "IS" stamped in it, that means "Inlayed Silver," and it is pretty worthless with regards to the Silver content in it!! It is now officially... scrap!!! ANYWAY, KEEP ON KEEPING ON BROTHER SCRAPER!!!!!!!!! PEACE 🤘🏼!!!!!!!!!!

I’m a wound care nurse and deal with those compression socks all the time. Those are high dollar and great for patients and especially for people who walk a lot like nurses, mailmen, doctors, runners etc..... You have some SERIOUS. money there. If you can grab some packages grab as many as you can also because some of those compressions come in different strengths of compression and it may help also.

Again, I know this is old, but your Bennigan's reference brought back some fun memories. Here's how old I am...my ex &I used to own Avery Air Systems in the Bellaire area. We had the contracts for all HVAC/R on Bennigans, Steak & Ale, Mr Gatti's, Landry's, Sam Houston Colosseum, Kolache Factory, Chili's and many more. That was back when we used Key Maps and courier services. Fax machines weren't even a thing yet, and cell phones were the giant purse sized things that got pretty much zero reception anywhere. 😂 The guys were all about spelling boob and hell on pagers. 😂 Fun times for sure!

I went diving in my town for the first time ever today and I found so much stuff, 8 bottles of laundry detergent, alot of "cat" wire I think I mean it days cat on it, about 50 lbs aluminum and probably 600 lbs of random steel, a 300 gallon air compressor I'm gonna take the motor off and a few mics small copper motors for separate scrap prices but I don't know anything about the different metals and the prices they should be, I hope I'm not getting ripped off at the scrap yard I went there with all my home scrap last week and got about $80 which I think its okay money for what I brought and the weight master was friendly and helping me quicking sort my scrap to get the most bang for my buck, I can't wait to see what I get for this load! ( This is so addictive like gambling I don't know what to tell my family and friends when they ask me where all this scrap came from because I don't want them to think I stole anything and I definitely don't want anyone knowing I'm a diver

I think it’s great you’ve started doing this, I wish more people would ( just not in Mike’s territory!). Just tell your friends and family you’ve found a great entry level job as a recycling engineer. 🥸 Sad times we live in, when we’re embarrassed to let others know you’re making a little extra cash grabbing perfectly reusable items that someone couldn’t be bothered to put in a recycling bin or donate to charity. Maybe if you had a real important “job” like an internet influencer they would think you’re doing something desperately needed. SMH

The vintage brass bed parts you could list on eBay and get far more than scrap...I sell the threaded brass knobs alone in my shop for $10 each, and they go fast...they are always missing from the cast iron beds. The silverplate is likely nickel. Some silverplate will be copper or brass.

ISP means sterling plate and it has no melt value. But, W. (William) Rogers produced Sterling and Silver Plated housewares from 1900 to 1940. There is a lot of these products for sale, and being held onto as family heirlooms. This stuff has limited value but there are some really pricey ones out there too. When you find serving pieces, like the cake/pie server he found, sell them at your yard sales for $1 to $2 dollars depending on condition. for a mark on the silverware of 925, STERLING or 925/1000.
