I've been dumpster diving for over 30 years and most of my food has and still does come from dumpsters. I've never once gotten sick. It's all about safety. I clean and sanitize everything including things I buy from stores. Just because it's bought from inside a store doesn't mean it's clean or sanitary. 🙃

my problem is with the people who grab loads from garbage dumpsters and then anonymously "donate" it back into the public food supply through shelters, food banks etc...

No I completely agree keep the Dumpster Food in the Dumpster. I bet you alot of the needy that eat that canned food don't even know that it came from the garbage. I'd definitely have a problem with that if I was in need.
