I love the fact you scrap in a car too, I used to get grief for it but everybody is used to it now lol. Do you not take the magnetron for the chunk of copper they have inside, I know they need careful processing with the correct PPE etc but they do contain nice copper! One other thing, I take IKEA bags into the skips with me, much easier than collecting it all up from the ground, it worries me when divers launch bits over the side incase a child has zipped up on bike or an animal or something, your dumpsters are so so high! Anyway, another fab video, great work doing the work yourself on the car.....saved a fortune in labour costs I imagine!! 👍

If you had the oppurtunity to scrap tractors but didnt have any tools and loads of space, what would u do?
@thubprint Жыл бұрын
Interesting question! It would depend on the time and local resources. If I just wanted them gone I would contact my local steel yard and either negotiate a bin drop off or have them connect me to someone with a cherry picker and a flatbed. If I wanted to handle all the labor and hopefully make money I would rent a car hauler from uhaul and load and deliver it myself. If I had a little time to get the most out of it I would do some research to find out what parts are valuable and in demand so I could take a few choice pieces to sell on eBay before scrapping the rest, and before any of that I would probably take some pictures and try sell them in “as is” condition for more than scrap value. Depending on how old they are a lot of tractors are bulletproof and still very useful to homesteaders so they could be an easy $500 with very little effort on your part. Whatever you choose I wish you the best!
@rickstover6019 Жыл бұрын
Well first off borrow the tools long enough to take enough apart to sell for ur own set of tools. Then go to town and tear them down the best u can. Just a suggestion though a air hammer drill and a compressor would be well worth the investment in this situation 👍

You’d hate it where I live junking - we recycle cans by the pound and they’re giving 55 cents/pound and it takes about 33 cans to make a pound - so I’d say you’re making at least triple what I make and if it’s 10 cents a can then wow- but pop is fairly cheap where I live and I hear it’s super expensive in places where they buy them back individually… I usually end up taking in MOUNTAINS of bags of cans, like in a good day I’ll take in about 70 pounds of pop cans (that also takes me a couple months to save) so a few times a year I’ll take in that much

Or is it too too trash-like? Thanks man!

Seems like construction sites are gold mines, bit more boring than the department store dumpsters - but gold mines. I just watched a vid of a guy hitting up the dumpsters at a little strip mall and he got a truckload of gatoraid and lots of really good new stock that some of the stores must have just rezoned and threw a ton of good stuff out. that seems fun like a treasure hunt
@thubprint Жыл бұрын
That’s a really good point actually, construction bins do feel like a lot of the same. My issue with store dumpsters is I simply don’t want a truckload of consumer products, can’t imagine what I’d do with all that stuff, and if I just left it there I’d have loads of people mad at me for not grabbing it. I always look for the big temporary bins but I’m really hoping for those move out clear out ones, the ones that are stuffed full of household things of various kinds. Those are the real treasure chests to me 👌
