Concerning reincarnation, I once asked someone who believed in it, "The population of the world is always growing. So where do the 'new souls' come from?" She had not thought that out, which is typical of young Americans that think they believe in Eastern mysticism. They have not really examined it.

They made a statement in one of the sessions that we tell the story of Jesus, we show love and acceptance and we leave, the rest is God's work. We prepare ourselves for war with prayer and walking in humility with God, gaining knowledge, deliver the message God wants us to and leave God to win the victory. We can talk and talk but I will never forget the first time God touched my heart letting me know he was there and he would make my world new. Without belief we cannot walk in faith. We believe we walk in that belief and the Holy Spirit walks with us, teaching, reproving, and putting us on the right track so we learn concept on concept, line by line.

If we’re gonna bring up Job can we acknowledge the fact that it was NOT God who did that to him. This example and story of Job is the perfect way to explain causing vs allowing something to happen. God did not cause or will or control those horribly events at all. Satan made 2 different challenges all to try to make a point that mankind would not be faithful. Job was a prosperous and respected man, loved and known as a faithful man of integrity. God took note of that, but so did Satan. Satan accused that the only reason that Job was so faithful was because he had been blessed and protected by God. (Job 1:9-11) He then raised a challenge by asking the question -- would he still remain faithful if he no longer experienced all the blessings he had received. God then ALLOWED Satan to take away the blessings he had enjoyed (Job 1:12-19) But this did not result in Satan winning his challenge, and at (Job 1:22) we see that Job remained faithful despite suffering this evil that had come upon him BY who?-- Satan. At (Job 2:3-5) we see he was still faithful to God and so Satan once again raised a challenge, that Job was only faithful because of Gods protection of him. Notably God did not cause the suffering himself*** but he ALLOWED Satan to afflict him, and the limit he gave was that he was not to take his life. (Job 2:6) At (Job 2:10) we see that again despite this new horrible affliction and even his wife telling him to “Curse God and die”, he remained faithful. Many chapters later after his exchanges with those who came to see him at (Job 27:3-6) we see Jobs determination to once again, REMAIN FAITHFUL or to “keep his integrity”. Although he still needed some learning and readjustment to his thinking, which Elihu helped provide before God also spoke to him, he remained faithful and righteous. At (Job 42:12-17) we see that when God stepped in, he removed and undid the suffering Job had experienced, and even doubled all that he had had before.

And as far as “control” of things goes 1 John 5:19 it is not God who controls the world currently, rather it is “the wicked one”. Why? Revelation 12:12 and because he is angry 1 Peter 5:8. And James 1:13- we are not enduring tests or trials from God either. A loving God would not ever act unjustly or wickedly by TAKING a child’s life or something similar. For the ones who have to endure that loss or for those victims of crimes or accidents he has promised a resurrection so that we may see then again. And also Daniel 2:44; and Matthew 6:9,10 when his kingdom does come and change things for the better then he will finally be in control of everything. Christ even after ruling for a short time 1 Corinthians 16:24-28 will turn the kingdom back over to his father. And the future blessings that are promised from our loving god according to his original purpose and will for mankind will take place - Isaiah 45:18 - Psalms 37:9-11,20,29- Proverbs 2:21 -Matthew 5:5 - Revelation 21:3,4- Isaiah 2:3,4; 11:6-9; 35:5,6,9; 65:17, 19-25

@@spencer8388Have you read Isaiah 46:10-11? God Decree's whatever he desires according to the counsel of his own will. Ephesians 1:11. Also referring to Job...Who pointed out Job to Satan? God did. He certainly wasn't just making conversation. He knew what Job would do. You said "A loving God wouldn't take a child's life." Have you read what happened to King David's child? As punishment? Was the child innocent? 1 John 5:19 is talking about the unsaved world...not for believers. You mentioned 1 Corninthians 16:24-28...it ends at verse 24. God is more in control than you think. God Bless...📖💥

God gave us a great verse to rest our inquiry concerning our inadequacy to grasp the concept of evil. 2 Thessalonians 2:7 the mystery of iniquity. This verse settled my soul. Paul did not know, we cannot. God knows best. May this help anyone, by his mercy and grace.
@spencer8388
@spencer8388 Жыл бұрын
2 Thessalonians 2:7 “mystery of iniquity / or lawlessness” as some translations say was referring to the apostasy that was beginning and growing and going to grow even more in the congregation after the apostles or “one acting as a restraint” or “the one who lets” is “taken away” and the apostasy flourishes. It is not about evil and suffering over all in the world. We CAN know and do know because the answers are there in scripture. The biggest and main cause of evil and suffering in the world: Revelation 12:7-9 Satan and his demons were thrown out of heaven down to the vicinity of the earth and therefore - 1 John 5:19- “the whole world lieth in wickedness” - KJV “the whole world lieth in the evil one” - ASV “the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one” - NWT “The whole world in the wicked one is lying”- Rotherham Version 1 Peter 5:8- “ the devil is roaming about to devour someone” and why? Revelation 12:12- he’s angry and has a short time before he is destroyed therefore wanting to disrupt as many and their relationship with God as he can. Other reasons for evil/ suffering? Man trying to rule themselves instead of having and being under Gods kingdom and also the injustices and their wickedness and attitudes . - Ecclesiastes 8:9; and 2 Timothy 3:1-5 Our own sinfulness and imperfections at times making wrong decisions and dealing with the consequences of them - Galatians 6:7,8 and Proverbs 22:8 Since we all live in a fallen state and an imperfect world there is also just the strifes of life that we cannot always avoid or protect from and accidents that happen - Ecclesiastes 9:11,12; and Luke 13:4

I am glad you said, you watched the session again. And indeed, if you were paying attention to McCarther, then you somehow missed the point that one has to come to the knowledge of who he or she is, and from that point, see God for who he is, and it is when you try to take a look at the two and seeing the gap between the two, then is is then, that you would come close to apprehending this mystery. Our minds cannot comprehend the bulk of this stuff; trying a rationale, clouds it further!

Starting at the question presented at 42:59: I lost my faith in God because I prayed as a saved Christian and as a child, that God would make my own supposedly "saved Christian" parent stop raping me for years. Since it didn't stop until I left home, it was nearly impossible not just to "believe in God" ... but to believe that God was not some kind of a sadist, who got His kicks by allowing such heinous crimes to exist. I think when dealing with these kinds of questions, what Dr. MacArthur answers in saying it is "myopic" is totally appropriate from a mature viewpoint. However, that is not entirely possible to see when a child. I did not understand that God gave us free will and in the case of my abusive parent, his free will choice was to do heinous evil, and that God would help me heal, but could not force my abusive parent to stop - UNTIL I had some real age on me. (Also had some good therapy which took forever to find but was worth it as it was sound.) It's hard to get out of the mindset that settles in while one is still a child and then cemented in place by extreme trauma. As a child, everything revolves around you and that is age appropriate. It might be a bit harsh and won't help to tell someone "too bad, you're not the only person who has had evil done to you" or "you're making excuses". I don't know if Dr. MacArthur understands fully what kind of spiritual damage is done. When you tell that person that they must focus on the evil in themselves (which is often minuscule, especially in a young adult, in comparison to what was done to them) it feeds into what the abuser told them: that it's all their fault and they are to blame and therefore God does not even have compassion for them. I know this vicious cycle of faulty thinking because I struggled with it for years myself. I would hope that a Pastor facing this kind of backstory especially in a young adult would be sending a person with those kinds of serious issues to therapy to deal with them and encourage them to hang on to their faith and ask God to go with them on their healing journey. Let them know that God loves them IN SPITE of what was done to them. One scripture that would help tremendously is the one straight from our Lord Jesus' mouth "it is not what enters the body that defiles a man" and stop right there. Tell that hurting wounded Christian that what was done to them is not defiling them. If they feel like it is, they may need some outside help. But again, encourage them not to give up on God, but rather to see what He has to say in the Bible about what sorts of things should happen to those who causes one of "these little ones who believe in me to stumble". You know, rope around the neck with a millstone tied to it and thrown into the depths of the sea? Jesus Christ Himself takes very seriously ALL manner of blocks to Him put up by wicked people who have authority over others. Some of us are more broken than others. No argument that we are all broken, all fallen, all sinners. And at 57 years old, I can now see my sin clearly as being far more important to focus on: but only because I had to rid myself of Satan's lies told me by my supposed "Christian" parent who abused me before I could move on. Just sharing a long, hard, life long journey. I wish that I had NOT been told exactly what Dr. MacArthur said. I was told that and walked away from Christianity, the Bible and God. What brought me back was reading the Bible through all alone and discovering that GOD CARES. About that, about me, and about sin. I'm sorry it has to be such a misunderstood subject, and apologies for the long post, but this is vital - at least to me and the young man in the question the gentleman posed to Dr. MacArthur.

You just know, you can't explain faith in God it's way beyond the human brain. It's in the trials tribulations persecution storms victories pain tears doubt elation joy anger all of human emotions and experiences highs lows in-between, The Holy Spirit indwells within a true believer in Christ and your own ego becomes like a must fading away and Christ's nature becomes more and more. You think, live and long for His will and love God with a fervent love, no words can begin to describe, it's like having a heart transplant. You are born again and this makes you feel strange to this world because yes we were made to glorify God, love Him, get to know Him and be with Him forever.

“Now we see how the astronomical evidence leads to a biblical view of the origin of the world. The details differ, but the essential elements in the astronomical and biblical accounts of Genesis are the same: the chain of events leading to man commenced suddenly and sharply at a definite moment in time, in a flash of light and energy.” He goes on to say they have painted themselves into a corner because the proven that earth began abruptly in a act of creation.

Law of thermodynamics state that all energy is slowly dying. Which means the universe is not infinite. It had a starting point. Is it not presumed that there must be a beginning? The only thing that can create something from nothing would be an ID. Most astronomers agree that there was some sort of super natural force that got the universe going. Just take some time and read what Robert Jastow has to say who sits in Edwin's Hubble's chair now at Mt. Wilson

I just gave you statements from probably the most important astronomer in our society today making bold statements about the beginning of the universe. I find it hard that you can continue on with this statement of we don't know, when scientific community is stating it looks like this. I agree we can "never" know exactly how it happen. No one is there, but using forensic science you can paint a picture of how it possibly happen. This has been done and it mostly points to Genesis account.

And they have found that all this happened as a product of forces they cannot hope to discover…. That there are what I or anyone would call supernatural forces at work is now, I think, a scientifically proven fact.” I think there is little denying that a supernatural act occurred to at the beginning of the earth. Though it can't ever be proven by what.

So having made my case about what astronomers believe to be most likely to be true, in this case Genesis account from not christian, I believe then that would by law rule out other religions account for creation that doesn't agree with the Genesis account. The next thing we can do after that is line-up historical transcripts of other religions to see if they are reliably true. Meaning do all transcripts say the same thing or do they vary.

Well i never thought someone would ask me weather God had to use something to create the universe, God is obviously omnipotent, and only he could make something out of Nothing, but he is something. obviously he didn't have to use something if he is omnipotent. I just place the point that you cannot have nothing create nothing, if indeed nothing is there. God is there. if we are going to debate that we don't know what created the Universe, that gives me more confidence in my Bible..

We don't know yet what happened in the beginning of the U, & the idea of "something from nothing" creates more questions. We have no concept of creation from nothing--only from existing material. Positing ID is speculation, & the idea of an agent existing outside time/space is very problematic. The only honest answer to life origins is "We don't know (yet)".

That's where I would take it to validating the authenticity of scriptures. Mostly first of all claims that Jesus is God, and that Jesus was who he said he was, because he made bold claims about Old Testament, if you can prove that he was who he said he was, it would be reasonable to trust in what he trust in as well.

The reason I commented to start with was that McA.'s quote was ironically true. Some folks aren't moved by recitation of verses. As for "proving God doesn't exist/disproving scripture", how would you disprove non-Christian scripture? Do you know that Chukchi creation stories are not true? If so, how?

When you are a child of your parents… And you do something against their will or you shamed them etc. they will possibly cut off fellowship with you… At the least they will not be happy… They will take away privileges… Etc.… When you are a child of God your family position does not change… You are a child of his… It doesn’t matter what sins you fall into ….your born-again status in the family does not change… He may bring discipline in your life… He may take your life… He may be very displeased… But your family status stays… Just the same as with your earthly parents… If you become a murderer… A bank robber… Your DNA does not change… You are still a child of your parents… The relationship may be very damaged or cut off… But you are still their child no matter what you do!

There is no scientific explanation for the act of creation. However, a Creation-based theory of origins is consistent with what we see in nature and the Bible. He is not saying that evolution is the correct theory of origins.

Science, as we have discovered, is very limited. Therefore it is futile to attempt to use the discipline of science to test everything! It is historically accurate to conclude that God entered our time space continum, based on history, archaeology, anthropology and also irrefutable biblical prophecies. Actually the more you know the Holy Bible the more supernatural it is, the more you know its history the bigger it gets. The Bible is not just one big book by one author written in one time period or year. The Holy Bible is inspired by God, written by men who were close to God. There are 66 different books and letters that make up the Bible. With some 40+ authors. Who lived in different time periods. From years apart to 200+ between authors. All authors scripture flows as one. That's one of the biggest miracles. If you read the history of Israel from long ago in both the Holy Bible and history, you will be amazed that it even survived, that the authors flowed like s river in theil doctrine. For example, I write a book that technology is the best thing in the world an American book. 200 years later America is devastated, technology has failed and hurt the human race, so a new author writes the horrors and failures of technology of America. So both books being American technology, we put them together and make them as one. We see contradictions from the first to the second. But this problem did not happen with the Bible. Now Imagine the people of the Bible were invaded by real historical nations over and over again during different periods of history and yet. All authors agree on the same God and same doctrine and salvation. Then you got the Archaeology, the Psychological and historical combinations and the eyewitness accounts. But the most important thing out of all this is, that you see the Holy Bible as the word of God. You must read it to believe it, from the book itself, with understanding. For everyone can read. Google: John 1 Then click on the Biblegateway.org link in the search and start reading. John 10:10 Jesus: "The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. I have come to give life and give it abundantly." John 4:16 " I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" May God Bless all who read this and find the truth :)

James Choi, I believe he is referencing 1 Timothy 5:17-21, specifically verse 18 where Paul says “For scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,” [Deut. 25:4] and “The worker deserves his wages” [Luke 10:7].” Perhaps he misheard the guy with the question or simply forgot to add “chapter 5 of 1st Timothy.” Hope this helps!

15:30ish seemed like a shot at ray comfort, the 10 commandments are simply used to show the person they’re a sinner and not a good person like they think they are…how else can you show someone you never met that they need a savior if you first don’t use the law to show that they’re in danger?

To the question at 43.25. If the individual is not the concern or focus for god, then who or what is? The personal relationship offered and Christ's death on the cross seems to be stripped and marginalized by his answer. Unless its only the elect, that should feel they have something special it seems! (Humans) seem to be the whole point of this whole redemption but at the same time the individual is not special our important?? I don't follow his answer! With God it seems, there are some things which, whether we like it or not, we have to except!! Also, I find it interesting that, believers (theologians) can know God's mind perfectly it seems, on some subjects (Big subjects) and then on other Big subjects, dismiss or gloss over them to say it's unknowable or mysterious! Claiming quite a bit and yet not enough in some areas which cry for explanation. Like the question, how was Saten able to sin!? At least he said he didn't know!

Law of Causality is making the assumption of how something came to be, and the assumption of God from Biblical point of view is he always was. I know that doesn't win an argument, but it invalidates the argument where did God come from. I also want to point out that God and other religions have huge difference in creation. No other religion makes bold claims of a God that just is. They all have a beginning and end. They assume like us we have beginning that time is linear.
