Hearing RC engage with people where they are at and in a manner of compassion and understanding reveals again why I was so impacted by his audio tapes and his books as a young man. He really mastered how to love God and love people so much, you will do all in your power to convey biblical truth and respect the people he is addressing. The grace and care for others exuded from RC in such a measure that it came through in his writing and the sound of his voice and the passion he put in communicating truth. I miss him so much.

Gerstner said presup was the death of apologetics-I love it! I appreciate the motivation behind presup as we all suppress the knowledge of God. 2:00 - Once again I’m amazed that we’re not looking to scripture for the clear and concise answer that is there. John 6:44,65 - 2 Thessalonians 2:13 - Jeremiah 31:3 - John 12:32 - Psalms 11:5 - Proverbs 21:2 - Acts 13:48 - 1 Peter 3:12 - 2 Chronicles 16:9 - 1 Samuel 16:7 etc etc etc God can see peoples hearts. He can see their minds. He can see who wants to get to know him, and who will listen, is ready to obey and make changes to better serve him. He examines them and pays attention and then he DRAWS them. Once they come to him and his son they begin to take in knowledge - John 17:3 Once they take in knowledge of him and his son and what they need to do to further that relationship- James 4:8 So the key ingredient is the proper conditions and God drawing ones and since he is impartial and doesn’t discriminate and desires all to be saved he can then provide any help that we need to continue drawing closer. He blesses effort.

We raised two children, despite the fact that my husband and I are both blind and I had an undiagnosed mental illness. I think if you have two people with disabilities who are married and you know long for the companionship in there being cuddly and so forth that I need for some people. I did have my tubes tied after the second child. Did you have to think about whether or not you can afford I mean you have to think about whether or not you can afford to keep and raise another child. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to enjoy intimacy with your spouse.

George Christopher I disagree with the doctrines of Calvin, not the doctrines of Grace. Nobody should be made to feel unloved by their Creator. Particularly when he himself says of himself that he is not willing for anyone to perish, but for everyone to repent. That is his fathers heart toward all people. Paul promised there would be wolves entering in, not sparing the flock. Perhaps John Calvin was one of them. Anyone who could believe that someone could be born on love by their maker is saying something about God that isn’t true. John Calvin apparently believes that, and so does his followers. I wants heard RC Sprawle say that the people God did not love enough to provide a way of salvation for them, most of them don’t care anyway. What a callous thing to say. First of all, it’s not true. Secondly, if even one person cares that he or she is not chosen for salvation, that is one too many. The thing I find most offensive about Calvinism is that if impugns the character of my heavenly father, and I won’t have it. Since you are homeless, you must realize that life is already hard enough, without someone being destroyed by the tenets of Calvinism and thinking that their creator does not care for them.

Sproul (paraphrase): "The idea of responsibility implies the ability to respond. By the way this is the thinking of the arch-heretic Pelagius..." This is the gibberish of Calvinism. Yes, the idea of moral responsibility not only implies but necessitates the ability to choose right from wrong. You can't get around it. Contra MacArthur, the unresolved paradox of the Bible is that God is omniscient and omnipotent while at the same time we have free moral choice, which Scripture absolutely teaches.

I think it means that God doesn't want people to perish, but they go their own way, leading to their own destruction.It is not the same as saying that God wills, as in decrees, that none should perish, .If we perish, it is on us, not on God.
@TheBibleSays3 жыл бұрын
You're correct: ⚫ "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9) The reforrmer's "doctrine of election" apparently says some are pre-determined to be saved, and the rest are pre-determined not to be saved. That, of course, is contradictory to the verse just quoted. There is a difference between predestination and predetermination . . . people often confuse the two, and assume predestination means predetermination. I think you would agree that God desires "all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" . . . that's the destiny planned, intended, desired for us: ⚫ "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:4) And that God is not willing that *_"any"_* should perish, but that all should come to repentance: ⚫ "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that *any* should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9) And that *_"whosoever"_* believes shall be saved from perishing: ⚫ "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that *whosoever* believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) That's the destiny intended for all of us. But we have free will and can refuse His plan. Many choose the wide, easy way that leads to destruction. Sixteenth-century theologians concocted the idea that some are *predetermined* for salvation and the rest are *predetermined* not to be saved. Apparently they never thought to ask why anyone would face judgment if - according to their theology - everything's predetermined anyway. Common sense shows predetermination is bogus doctrine. Am I saying we mortals do not have eternal security, OSAS, guaranteed saved by virtue of predeternination? Exactly. Nothing *else* can pluck us out of His hand . . . but we ourselves can turn away from Him and no longer abide in Him. What happens then? ⚫ "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (Jesus, in John 15:6) ⚫ "If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:" (2 Timothy 2:12) Unless we abide in Him in repentance, walking "after the spirit" (Romans 8:1) we'll return to condemnation, no longer "in His goodness" or grace . . . and we'll be "cut off": ⚫ "For if God spared not the natural branches [the Israelites], take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off." (Romans 11:21,22) ⚫ "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it." (Hebrews 4:1) Predetermination is a false theology . . . frankly used as a crutch for the OSAS heresy, and as a way to deny any personal responsibility in the matter of salvation.

Sorry but Paul refutes the Calvinist selection heresy when he writes this in 2nd Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, NOT willing that anyone should perish (Go to Hell). But that everyone come to repentance. Will everyone come to repentance? Of course not bc Jesus said the road to hell is more popular & MANY go thereto. But to say God created us without a will to choose is ridiculous! The thief on the cross made a decision to accept God's forgiveness. So it is def a confession, along with repentance that gives one salavation.

What a space cadet you are not even close to reality let alone understanding the one twisting of the one verse you know. He will surely gather his elect from the 4 winds. He will be extremely patient with His Elect. I pray NOT FOR THE WORLD. You have never believed the bible and you have only a puppet figment of you imagination as your false god. So obvious you are totally without sense or theology. You still believe satans lie of freewill at the Garden.

Who makes up the "all" in this verse? In verse 1 he's addressing the "beloved." He's writing to believers. God is not willing that any of the elect should perish. This is the problem with single verse theology with no context.

We would never “choose “ God…..it is only the grace of God that saves us by the Holy Spirit.

Yes, I'm not sure if I believe in Calvinism, but I learn my Bible by listening to John McArthur. But I would not go in his Church and start arguing. Im just not sure.

The sole requirement for salvation is faith in Jesus as Lord and God. NO OTHER necessity is required for salvation. It is tragic that people who have been Christians for years, do not know this basic fact, and question the salvation of those who have varied doctrines which are of no salvific effect.

Isaiah 53:5, he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed. For salvation, people just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in the water and of the spirit. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is. We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD. We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:8-9, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed. One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritan. Our salvation has to match-up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away. Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38. The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church. It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction. Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, They continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. If you believe in this message, help spread it in the name of Jesus Christ. God bless you!

It is sad that you are telling people a lie which is very serious where Christ salvation gospel is concerned. You are spewing a works righteous gospel. If anyone even an angel bring in another gospel, he is accursed Gal 1:8. . You do not understand scripture. Except a man be born of water( the mothers womb) and the spirit( in Christ)..... If we are saved by our faith in grace alone, why do we need to be dunked in water to be saved? Water baptism is our testimony to others that we have been buried in Christ AFTER the Father has drawn us and given us repentance and the measure of faith! Think about that. I sincerely pray that you repent or you will surely die.

Good answers Some spiritual meanings missed. For example the proverbs 31 woman question. He said she gets her food from afar means she had to travel The spiritual meaning is she gets her food from the Spirit ( Afar means spirit realm) to feed her family. It has nothing to do with physical travel.

0:57, R.C. says that denying the trinity is heresy. As a 30 year former Reformed, Calvinist, steeped in the Westminster Standards, creeds, and Calvin's Institutes; I again ask, where is the biblical foundation of the trinity? Acts 2:38. Also, the constant using of "illustrations" to make a point is tiresome. The Bible is clear, you do not need illustrations, analogies, etc. to understand God's word!

30:45 Young man asking what I took to be a sincere deep question. They grappled with it some. JMac gave good words...the kid knew the prospect of getting his question answered was one step closer and as he began to clarify his point here: at 30:45 Sproul defensively/aggressively: "Why does that follow/" The kid, now a bit nervous, but trying to maintain decorum if nothing else...begins to speak again and Sproul says harshly: "Just a minute!" ....Sproul, "If you tried to say something meaningful in 15 minutes, and you couldn't...cause you guys couldn't last night !" Then everybody laughed... (poor kid) and some people clapped and Sproul looked like the cat that had swallowed the proverbial canary. Just what was Sproul winning here?! (What, exactly was he winning/) But still after all, Pastor John, came through and affirmed the true basis of the student's question... it was a great and a comfort to me that Pastor John was the deepest... and affirmed that guy and his many young friends that the "old ones" the could understand the depth to the question. There was too much laughing felt almost like AT the kid. I love it that Pastor John takes matters of the soul very seriously.

Ligon also gave helpful insight. I also felt the crowd was cruel which is unfortunate. Our humanity will always draw at us to pick on someone and join the rest of the crowd in doing so. Thank you for adding your thoughts it was helpful for me as I was confused they laughed at him.

Given the fact that Legion Duncan stated that his church's members should not fight against the doctrine they teach and hold to, now that we are in 2021 and he supports CRT, BLM, and Systemic Racism, will those also be teachings that cannot be refuted?

As God knows all things He knows those who want to please Him. And He knows of their desire to please Him before He has created them. Therefore we know that for God to not choose to predestinate those whom He knows want to please Him, would be a very strange choosing indeed. Therefore can we not say that it must be true that God predestinates those ones whom He knows want to please Him.

I am a Christian and wrestle with these issues, and I admire RC, but what he said didn't make sense: we are dead in sin, but we are responsible for being dead in sin. I'm sorry but its like saying to someone paralysed from birth they are responsible for them not being able to walk.

The only place I would disagree with Dr. Sproul is in the area of apologetics. Unlike the times that Calvin, Hodge, and Warfield ministered in, they always dealt with an audience that believed in a transcendent reality. Even pagans believed in a god. The Church has never existed in an era with such a materialistic presupposition from It’s opponents as we do now. Pointing out to the atheist their reliance on a Christian worldview in order to function in the world is the only way to defeat their argument.
@JerynToney2 жыл бұрын
There are few times which I am unsatisfied with Macarthur or Sproul's answers, but I am inclined in this instance to expand on the answer to the question of God's commandment to all men that they repent: All men are commanded to repent. Yet, no man can recognize that command unless called by God, for man's natural inclination is to hate God, either by denying His existence, or running away from Him, and consequentially not listening to Him. Jesus Christ said: "He who has ears, listen." - If you hear God, that is to say: If you have been elected by God, and you hear him, know that you are commanded to repent. - The commandment is to all men who have ears, and listen to God; those men who have been elected.
