That was impressive wasn't it Ann! Richard and John looked very small passing through it. I guess the height was to deter dear maybe?

@@RichardVobes I know you have been to Petworth ever times, but have you ever walked through the village of Petworth? I saw it on line last night - it looked so quaint & old!😍

Botany Bay is an area of ancient woodland with a beautiful chalk stream running through it, which is home to a small population of native brown trout. Here river features such as meander, flow, waterfalls, pools and banks, can be seen. There are opportunities for pond dipping and kick sampling in the stream. The woodland provides areas for plant identification and mini beast hunting. Above all Botany Bay is a quiet place for reflection and creative work.

Another very interesting video and insight into the village of Duncton and it's industry. Close by where I live we have "Spring line" villages. These villages go right back to and possibly beyond Romano British times. Good stuff. Sandy

A great video and extremely interesting! I walked this morning from nearby Graffham, past the big house and along Beechwood Lane and saw the features seen in the first part of the video. Having watched it when it was first posted, I was inspired to have a look down the lane. There was an awful lot of water going through the brick outfall by the cottage today and it's really clean and clear. If you walk to the big house (Lavington Park) end of Beechwood Lane, you can walk up the escarpment onto the downs or descend behind the old garden wall of the big house where on the escarpment in the trees there is a big black water tank/reservoir that I reckon must have supplied the estate with the water pumped from the pump house. My first ever You Tube comment!

I love John’s Sussex accent - you don’t hear that accent very often. I’ve very much enjoyed this series on Duncton. Did you use your little umbrella for the camera?
@RichardVobes4 жыл бұрын
Alas I forgot to take it that day - the umbrella, but we survived. Yes, John has a genuine old fashioned Sussex accent.

That's nice, are there any deer there
@jbradshaw42364 жыл бұрын
Hi George, the fly fishing at Duncton Mill Fisheries is truly exceptional. Locally the deer population is quite large but controlled. Care must be exercised when driving the rural roads particularly at night. Deer vs car incidents are quite frequently reported.
