You might not go there, but I will. Dune 2 is an instant classic. The scene where paul takes control of the fremen in the south is probably a top-5 scene of all time.

I’ve seen dune 2 three times in theaters, all times in imax, and each time it just gets better and better. Never feel the time, all I feel is the passion and perfection. Dune has been a huge part of my life since I can remember and I don’t know what I would do without the universe Frank Herbert created.

I’m sure you’ve been amazed at what Denis has achieved & accomplished and what this world means to you. I’ve only started reading the books 📖 and it’s really good already.

Saying that Dune: Part II is one of the all-time best sci-fi movies is a fairly modest thing to say.

Read the book? Then you understand the incredibly of it. Marvel action movies. No comparison

"Dune 2" is an action film that uses the Dune name. It doesn't even use the subject matter of dune.. why is spice important.. because the entire galaxy doesn't use computers.. none. So for interstellar travel to occur Guild Navigators require spice to mutate their minds and bodies and allow them to navigate the travel of the jump engines on the space ships. Also they have people trained like Thufir Hawat as living computers to do the various computations that they need, mentats. None of this is in the story at all. The whole reason spice is important is because it allows interstellar travel .. that's basically it.
@Frederiknshansen26 күн бұрын
...then watch Dune 1, where most of this is mentioned. Mentats are only alluded to, but that is DVs style: show, don't tell.
@deanooooooo649626 күн бұрын
@@Frederiknshansen Yes.. just alluding to the whole reason the Dune universe and storyline exists, that's just pathetic. Dune is important because of spice, spice is important for guild navigators for space navigation, because they don't use computers. Miss that and you've just got an action film.

Epic means long. You have the world poem. Then with stuff like Paradise Lost which goes on forever is called an Epic proem. I willing to accept Dune is very long. So are most Indian movies

That movie was not a work of art. It was designed to be a commercial success. Now there is so much that is not good cinema in our current day and time, that a movie like Dune part 2 would seem like a masterpiece, but it's all about perspective. The movie is objectively a good movie, but it is no masterpiece.

then what movie is a masterpiece?
@kwaki-serpi-niku6 күн бұрын
@@helojoeywala6622 It's all just opinions man. What I might like to see in a movie.....you might find it distasteful and vice versa. The movies I find to be masterpieces would be something like Donnie Darko or Cool Hand Luke or The Ring or Groundhog Day or The Shining or North by Northwest. But this is just my taste in movies. I prefer the older Lynch version of Dune, even though it's cheesy. I just think it's better. Lynch used character actors to play the enigmatic roles in that film. Villeneauve used big name actors that you see in just about every big Hollywood movie that has come out for the past decade or more....that's formulaic. When I see these Villeneuve movies, all I see is big Hollywood formulaic cinema. I'm not saying it's bad though by any stretch. The focus of the story for villeneuve's Dune was just not interesting to me. I wanted to see more about the dune universe and have that portrayed on screen. I really didn't care about seeing how Paul atreides inspired the Freman to go out and kill billions of people.
