@@Sam_T2000 writers and actors strikes delayed a ton of shows, these two aren't outliers in that sense

@@empireoflightz - _Outer Range_ wasn’t even renewed until several months after the first season ended… yes, the strikes affected every production, but it seems like these days you almost never get two seasons of a show in consecutive years, and it’s usually 2-3 year wait for the best shows.

@@Sam_T2000 you said it, the best shows, because it takes time to do something well, especially if you want to give yourself and your staff and crew some breaks instead of working non stop for years until burnout... I think there's more consciousness now that you shouldn't do that. Especially bigger productions with more moving parts like Stranger Things or HotD, they looked at GoT's final season and concluded, yeah, 2 years wasn't enough time lol No idea how shows like Sopranos and Breaking Bad did it at the time. But I bet if you ask those guys if they'd have taken longer if they could've they'd say yes

It does repeating that the movie should be 4 hours. That's how I felt with the first movie too, it's funny they feel ok giving us 4 hour scorcese films but not Dune, where there's so much more happening and literally a vast galaxy to explore. Charge me 25% more for the ticket if you need to, schedule a break for people to go to the bathrooms, if there's such massive scope any you literally already shot the scenes, make the damn movie longer

Brolin gets the baliset stuff, and is able to play off of it competently. But what I was hoping for from the film was the scene where Brolin's character plays for a dying coworker in the piracy biz. Too bad that fell onto the cutting room floor, assuming it was ever filmed. There was something uplifting in the telling of the book where he eases the pain of another's passing, one who was close to him in his vagabond condition. This showed how sympathetic and caring this warrior protector of House Atreides in fact was. How very much of a model human being he was. The kind of man who would carefully and earnestly sing you out on your outward journey.
