Ohh man, I loved that Hark vote for Ecaz gov at the end. Basically forced the ultimatum "who you going to stop? Me or Ecaz?" That's the sort of politicking and schemery that makes me love Spice Wars.

Diabolical for sure! It really screwed Vernius who needed more time for schemes to come to fruition. But if he hadn't we likely would have just teamed up to march on Hark base to burn it down at that point.

Everybody talking about how easy Corrino is blows my mind. To me, they are one of the most complicated factions. They gain authority so slow. You have to build their bases perfect to maximize your resources. Cause you just have less. And I lose militarily when I fight people cause conscripts seem so weak. They don't give my Sardukar time to execute. And I can never take the offensive. And don't get me started on their tech tree. Why am I the only one who is weak with them?

With corinno always use the base missiles for the first fights. Militias always chase you far enough for them to be useable.

@daevohk You underestimate the strength of your army. +15% Military Factory +20% Military Base So for most of the game your army was about 35% stronger.

A Geeist of Gees! I think they messed up just trickling into the middle in the 3v1 moment. An allied Hark + Either of them force in the same region as your army would have been hard to hold. But maybe that would have just been more orbital strike victims

39:50 that first worm strike was surprisingly equal for both sides!. You lost your hero, 1 Sardaukar, and 2 swordsmen. Ecaz lost his hero, 1 knight, and 2 squires.

A bit unrelated to the fun gameplay, but I've always wanted to hear your thoughts about Dune Part 2! Obviously the game came out in the interim before Part 2, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on how Spice Wars interpreted these characters, factions, and units in contrast to the book and the film.

Spice Wars has definitely veered into a sort of alternate dune reality which is honestly good for them. It gives them the space to add all manner of neat new content to the game like Ecaz/Vernius etc. What they did do really well is capture a feel of each faction story in their gameplay. Harkonnens are greedy and sneaky. Fremen are stealthy and powerful. Atreides value life and honor. I just love it all. As for the film, I hugely enjoyed it. My gripes with it are more gripes with Frank Herbert's story than Villneuve's adaptation of it. I absolutely loved all of the actor's work with their characters and the cinematography was mesmerizing.

Aren't orbital strikes like very expensive in intel? I think you could have afforded an assassination instead of having done 2 orbital strikes?

They are 500, which is quite a lot. But I always prioritize intel on Corrino for this purpose alone. Sassy nation might work, or it might do nothing. Orbital Strikes are almost always just devastating to an army. People really need to treat them as if it was a ceasefire--just leave, you cant stand in it.

I always wonder why you start with 1 melee 1 ranged every time why not 2 melee guys?

For most factions its optimal to have 1 guy to tank and 1 guy to dps, that usually finishes fights faster. I may need to reevaluate for conscripts though.

@@daevohk That is assuming the range guy has more dps and I cant tell really if that is true for all the factions since as far as I can tell we dont know the attack intervals just damage per hit.

@@AdamSchadow they tell us now! if you mouse over the units damage profile it breaks out power/attack speed Conscripts in particular are identical but riflemen have +1 power while swordsmen have +3 armor.

Got a question why not increase harverster workers early on ?!

1. Early manpower is often hard to come by and early +crew are minimal economic benefits. 2. Early workers will end up eaten by worms unless you also dedicate a thopter to safe mode the harvester. The thopter cost/upkeep being dedicated there further reduces the net economic benefit from the crew. Much better to explore with thopters early and once they're less needed for exploration they can be retasked to babysit. So it often makes sense for a more mid game shift to building crew (maybe after they're cheaper from Harvester Works), after you have more manpower to spare, after you have more modifiers to your spice harvesting to get better return, and re-tasking thopters to it after they've done that critical early scouting.

I dont rly think conscripts are bad cause you have that juicy health sharing in armory edit: also can you please explain why people dont rush north pole when its its free to anex? i cant rly see anything bad about getting it early

Generally people tend to avoid it because it paints a target on their back.

I think it is worth while for sure if it is free. Though sometimes you might not want to get into a fight over it, or you might be too deep set away from it to get there safely without extra supply drops. Or it might be pillaged at the moment and no one can get it.

worst game of choam rates I've ever seen haha. Does the choam victory feel too fast? or do you think it's balanced by the fact that charters can make you lose it? Though hedge is probably easier to remove given you just take regions.

Choam wincon is an interesting one, you almost never see it happen late game because other people contesting it usually just puts it out of reach. You sorta need the stars to align or be playing so incredibly greedy that your empire is very fragile. I have no problems with it currently but only see it succeed very rarely.

@@daevohk makes sense, I guess it's just an inherent part of most matches to have to deal with the choamer haha. Not necessarily a bad thing, it forces diplomacy which imo is one of the best parts of the game. Also I'd love a video on nukes! I have never seen anyone build them, so a guide on their rare uses could be short and fun!
