Additionally, when Paul fought Jamis (for example) he was initially trying not to kill him before he was informed that it was a fight to the death and killing wasn't optional. And even after that, he was reluctant to cross that line because he had never killed before. As a result, his actions were probably a lot messier and less refined than they otherwise might have been, because there is a big difference between training to potentially kill someone and actually doing it for the first time...

One critic in my country commented how Lady Jessica was vunerable in her portrayal in this movie, a side that according to him wasn't in her personality and while he disaprovees he is ok with that. At the time when I"ve seen the review, I hadn't read the book, but coudn't disagree more with his critic; her vunerability adds more to Jessica, and made me like her character even more, she not just a strong and smart woman but also a mother that cares about Paul, a mother that goes in conflict with her Sect and defends what she belives is the best path for son's rule. Maybe this all her narcisist personality? Maybe, but I don't think she is a narcisist mother, she is actually suffering seeing her son scared of the visons yet to come, and oh boy Ferguson nails it.
@vincent14202 жыл бұрын
and the whole conflict with jessica is her feeling torn between duties to her sisterhood and duties to her son/husband. emphasising her vulnerability more in the movie, where we don’t access to her inner dialogue like we do in the books, is a clearer way to show that conflict.

I agree with the critic. She is Bene Gesserit. She's trained to contain those emotions. This is why any criticism of Lynch's use of internal voice is dumb. In Dune you have to have their internal thoughts delivered into the audience because everyone is stoic and in control all the time.

@@natepenyaa9406 Dude, it doesn't matter why, having voice over narration in movies, especially how Dune 1984 handled it, it just fucking awful. If I wanted to hear someone whisper information at me I'd watch an ASMR video on youtube, not a feature length film.
@antonego95812 жыл бұрын
@@natepenyaa9406 Having her be more emotional makes her a far more compelling character in the film though. It was a a good decision from that standpoint. Very similar to how the LOTR films made Aragorn reluctant to take up his crown and destiny. Having stoic characters with no vulnerabilities who never make mistakes is boring in a film.

I need to see this actually happen in Dune Part: 3 Messiah, Not a vision, but Paul with Chani showing her the oceans of water he promised… that she didn’t believe overlooking Caladan his father Leto Atredies Homeworld… as Emperor. Part 3 can only be compared to Revenge Of The Sith… that’s what is coming for Dune Messiah

It's actually from the 2nd. Watch closely when Chani fights the Harkonnen forces, she's does the exact same moves shown in the vision

@@av8r96plays5 I noticed that but I think.. It's more of a probability thing because these suits are more advanced and they say it's during the holy war which has only begun at the end of the 2nd film.

I'm going to take a wild guess here. Paul is like a rod/cone cell in a higher meme space. So if we are to develop an eye in higher meme space, we probably need more than one Paul. As in our eyes have many rod and cone cells, so maybe one Paul may not be enough to map the higher meme space once we reach there. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

It would be impressive if in Dune part 3: Messiah, we see slightly alternated versions of these exact shots to showcase his vision fully maturing into reality. Hypothetically finally getting to see the desert battles, golden stilsuit, Paul and Chani gazing down from the spacecraft hovering above a celebrating army of fremen warriors. Just imagine.

Messiah is a short book and whilst the conspiracy is interesting, I think Denis will almost certainly have to build in what we have seen in the visions and expand on the battles that finally resulted in the story of Messiah. I personally would love to see Denis film children of Dune to complete *********** SPOILER ALERT **************...............Paul's story.
