He didn’t kill her because ending her doesn’t end the sisterhood’s influence, which is what he seems to want. Killing her only leaves a void for someone else to fill. The enemy we know is easier to take down then the one we don’t. So instead of killing her, he will probably continue trying to remove the sisterhood from power and then kill her if it comes to it. Better that than to martyr her.

Or he will need them and than kill them he is probably going to manipulate them somehow my guess is this guy deasmond is a proto type Kwisatz Haderach which explains why the voice didn’t work on him since he did come in contact with a worm and most likely it’s poison. He also could be of Paul’s bloodline as well and he wants to bring about the god emperor but he needs the sisters to do it taking their power away from the sisters is a start of his plan. He also would have access to his male ancestors as well and see the future or at least different paths leading to the same conclusion.

Guys, Dorotea was Lila's grandmother (while Raquela was Lila's great great grandmother, so apparently we weren't introduced to Dorotea's mother). Dorotea even calls Lila "granddaughter" right after Lila mistook her for her own mother. Meaning, Lila's mother, the one whom supposedly died giving birth to her, was Dorotea's daughter. Also, earlier in the episode when Valya told Tula she would have to get Lila to go through the Agony, the death of Dorotea was the secret Tula was referring to, so she WAS worried and apprehensive about Lila encountering Dorotea and discovering that truth.

The Landsraad is a coalition of all the Great Noble Houses (House Atreides, House Harkonnen, and all the other great houses). It's an organization used to protect the other houses from the power of the Imperial Royal House-House Corrino (Mark Strong's family). If the emperor were to do something underhanded or illegal, like assassinate his newly married son-in-law from another house, and word got out to the Landsraad, they would go to war with the royal family. The major organizations in the Dune universe are the Landsraad, the Imperial Royal House, the Bene Gesserit, and the Spacing Guild-the organization that controls all space travel.

I think if he were to kill her, he would appear as a recluse, and the Emperor wouldn’t trust him. Up until this point all of his killings have been in service to the Emperor and his interests, but if he were to kill the head of the Sisterhood just because he can, then he loses all of that trust he’s built in an instant. I believe undermining her authority will serve whatever his cause is best in the long run. Also, she is unable to kill him using the voice, so he’s safe from her for the moment, but not from any assassins she may send his way. This is getting good.

Desmond told us who he likely is. He said the worm took his eye and he can now see where she cannot. That’s the trait of a kwisak hadirak. The male who can survive the water of life has the memories of all the males and females in his line. This is what Paul had. In the Dune film by David Lynch, Paul talks about this. I’m betting Desmond is somehow a predecessor of what Paul becomes. And as an enemy of the sisterhood, they decide to create one of their own. One they can control. In Dune part one, the Reverend Mother actually says as much. She says Paul is a danger because he was unplanned and thus might not be able to be controlled. Dang. This show is blowing my mind.

@@PresidentProductionsyes. This play on the unknown and possibilities has been a lot of fun to watch. I like how they’ve woven in a lot of deeper lore from the start. How the visions are ambiguous and the players are misinterpreting things because the nature of visions of the future are often not understood until they’ve already happened. Desmond represents this by his very nature. He could be any of these things or variants of them. I think Desmond is a Ghola or a Face dancer with some weaponised nano tech from Ix or one of the worlds who want to further tech dev after the ban. The face dancers have that weird whisper language which can also be heard in the premonitions. Plus, they are known later on to be able to block the prescience and skills of the sisterhood. But the blue pointy eyes remind me of the Thinking machines, those strange mechanical voice sounds are in the visions too. They should not appear at this moment of time though, but they are constantly brought up. Maybe Erasmus is pulling some strings in the background? I would be more than a bit upset if it in the end is portrayed as some sort of mystical spice stuff instead of those two factions. My bet for the tv show are the Bene Tleilax, who are religious fundamentalists and always wanted to eradicate the sisterhood. The spacing guild or the mentats, or any other factions at this point in time never really cared that much about the sisterhood. If Denis Villeneuve really was involved in the development at the beginning of this show, it might very well be the Bene Tleilax, since we will have them as a relevant faction in Dune: Messiah, so we can get an introduction before the movie and the explanation why we will see one of our favourites back from the dead. Or he wanted to make sure that they are not brought up, for better effect in yhe movie, and instead we get a remnant story of the thinking machines. Who knows? I guess we have to watch the show to find out... Btw, i think the princess abduction thing sounds to sus af, i wouldn't put it past Valia come up with that scheme to get her claws into her...

I think Desmond might be one of the “Prophets” who can now see and prepare the way of the coming “Messiah”, Paul Atreides. Potentially the prophecy is speaking of the one who will eventually come and destroy or supplant the sisterhood, which is actually Paul. So, the distant Blue Eyes could be those of Paul looking who can fold space and see all things (past, present, or future) along the space time continuum as one. So, the prophecy is about and fulfilled in him, which will grow ever clearer as in comes to fruition. For now, it is there but still not completely clear. Anyway, that is just a thought. I viewed it more that he's a tool sent to serve the Emperor for whatever reason and by whomever. His vendetta is against the Sisters, but he isn't given full agency by the Empress. He serves his primary function first and foremost - as a tool to serve the Emperor. And the Emperor didn't have the insight to try and move openly against the whole Sisterhood. So Wurmkind McFry Lothbrok acted as much as he could, and kicked the Sisterhood out of the Imperial Court. It's a symbolic move, and as their influence wanes among the great houses of the Landsraadt (Dune House of Lords). Wormy McFry has to wait for his personal Agenda and the Imperial Agenda to coincide again to move against the Mother Superior. And, if he kills her now, he'll just have to wait for her successors to figure out what the heck is going on, and what the past history was, before they come back into play. And if they shatter into warring factions before McFry is set to detroy the sisterhood en masse, then instead of dealing with one shadow political sisterhood, he has to deal with many. Same reason you don't blow up a large asteroid heading to earth, you can't predict the fallout and you multiply your enemies and fronts.

I think they will no longer react to the show since the views are so low.

good chance when the worm ate him some of the saliva or potentionally the blood mixed into him giving him those powers and him pretty much connect to the worm. if so this will lead the sisterhood seeing a massive use for the worms and their push to capturing one, extract the blood and convert it into the poison they use in the movies this strengthen their connection. also old stories tropes the man is pretty much a warlock/wizard whispering into the lord mind. in a way yeah if he can mentally burn someone and ward off a sisters voice power.

also sci fi franchises gonna get interesting on themes in coming years. you got the bene gesserit of dune, nightsisters in star wars getting more known to media focused star wars watchers, then with live action warhammer 40k coming up ppl gonna know of the adeptus sororitas. space witches/covens all the rage now.

Sorry.. I have never read any Dune books, so please guide me here. How can some one survive that? Being eaten but still alive?
@Gorb-q4l21 күн бұрын
@@kaviyak9220they cant, unless theyre whats a called a ghola. a re-animated body created by a sect of people not yet introduced in either the movies or show. this timeline would be too early for ghola technology though as they would only be able to regrow limbs at this point & not full bodies. nobody knows for sure what desmond is or who he is. all speculation at this point. 3 main theories are him being a ghola, a robot, or an earlier much weaker version of paul but the burning power is throwing everything off for that theory.

So, what happened to episode 3.....?
@jpjh8844Ай бұрын
I see him as an early version of the Kwisatz Haderach, given his gifts by Shai-Hulud. The sisterhood as they were in this time lost power, but the Bene Gesserit eventually took over. 10,148 years later Paul drinks the Water of Life and fulfills the prophecy. In Dune 2 we learn that the Lisan al Gaib/Kwisatz Haderach has to drink the water of life and be reborn with Desert Spring tears. Well we know Chani Kynes (the daughter of Dr. Kynes) is named Desert Spring.

No, don't you see he is Herald of the God Emperor. So he is manipulating the Sisterhood to create the Kwisatz Haderach. Right now they are not trying to create worlds Super Being. But they will and he is prompting them to do so.

I’m shocked that all these reactors seem to be on the side of the sisterhood while watching the show but I don’t remember anybody being on Paul’s mom side or the bene whatever you call it lady’s side while watching dune

Trust no one. There are no sides, there is only the cause. Everyone are just pawn in all political goals. That realm is screwed.

I feel I see your discussion at the end of this episode on why would you keep a man with his power around and you would get rid of him straight way. Is literally playing in American politics right now.😂😂😂😂 And both sized of the political party’s are both saying the same thing about the opposition.🤷🏻♂️

I dont think Lila should have access to Dorothea's death memory. Only to memories before Lila's birth. Its genetic memory. Also she doesnt look like 30 years old. I love the plot but this things bother me.
@roya9429 күн бұрын
Dorthea called her 'granddaughter', and told her that her mother wasn't there. The mother probably is still alive and her character will be introduced or her identity will be revealed in the next episodes.
