My thinking - the real Desmond Hart died on Arrakis which is what the recording is showing the Emperor. The new Desmond Hart might be a Facedancer, an Ixian or a Ghola. Either way he’s doing the bidding of Ix or the Bene Tlielaxu who both want to take down the Sisterhood. Just thinking out loud.

House Richese weren't important but they were rich. They were rivals of House Ix and produced their own technology. Their technology was inferior but they were the only competition to the Ixians. I'm wary of the series. I'm not a big fan of the sequel books. They lean too much away from the philosophy into action. I find the depiction of the Buterlian Jihad questionable. The original quote from Dune was, "Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them." The series in general was about humans trying to control each other, just with different methods. The implication of the Butlerian Jihad was that thinking machines were one of the methods of control that was used, but it was still humans pulling the strings. Also, the idea of these lineages and grudges being held over so long is kind of silly. The original books do long time jumps too, and the bloodlines get really spread out through generations of intermarriages and crossbreeding. Even in the original book, the events take place so far into the future that the humans of that time have almost diverged from the humans today. It's like comparing the humans of today with Cro-Magnons.

In Frank Herbert's Dune saga, the technocrats of planet Ix make a significant rise to power and contribute greatly to the technology of the Duniverse. It is expected that Ixians would not give up their technological superiority and benefits that come from it. The dominance of the Space Guild due to an exaggerated decision to ban even computers, not only AIs, was likely to cause great dissatisfaction. I'd expect a black market to be created to allow computer assisted space travel and independence from the Space Guild. All would work under great risk, off course. It would be great to have a TV series explorer the many facets of the Dune universe. Yes, the Butlerian Jihad was a bit of an overcorrection. That said, more than mere computers are needed for FoldSpace navigation. Foresight, prescience is needed to chart paths amongst the stars-So yeah, The Guild was always gonna have its monopoly. With Denis Villeneuve's adaptation on its way, I've been exploring the characters, organizations and elements that make up this fascinating universe. I hope this show does the Spacing Guild its due.

I read the original series, two to three times before the 1984 movie. I have also watched all 12 hours of the 2001/2003 Sci-Fi Channel series several times and also the last two Dune movies. They all pronounce the words in the Dune Universe the same as I pronounced them before seeing any of the movies/shows. Anyone I talked to has always pronounced the unique names in Dune Universe according to the English language. Not sure why you butcher it so badly. It's Ben-Nay, not Bean-AA. Also, you have a lot of your Dune Universe wrong ... Guild Pilots do not pilot spaceships through space ... they "move without moving" by folding space. Also, the Harkonen were not bald, except in the highly altered version by Denis Villeneuve, they had signature red hair. I hope this series stays true to the books and not Denis Villeneuve version. One major failure of the recent movies is that it failed to explain the reason that spice was so valuable, it appears that this series is going to continue that trend. The Bene Gesserit did not gain their Truth sayer capabilities from learning to tap two fingers together by extensive training and the use of Spice. Lastly, The Voice isn't magic, they learned to speak sounds that would direct activate the targets brain to perform simple actions. Someone on your staff needs to read the books.
@jasonking31822 күн бұрын
Something to keep in mind for why things haven’t changed in 10 thousands years is that Spice greatly extends the lifespan of the rich and powerful who can afford it. So there’s not going to be a lot of turnover for the ruling family’s at the top.

I think Desmond Hart is telling the truth. He and his crew were sabatoged and he went down with the harvester when a giant worm appeared. He had to have been blasted with the spice. This may well have given him the powers of a Bene Gesserit. The vision he has of the future will be much different from the one Valya has. He may be planting the seed that leads to Jessica eventually disobeying the Sisterhood for love and giving Leto a son. The Tlielaxu wouldn’t be trying to take down the Sisterhood this early in the history. The Sisterhood has yet to become the powerful force they are by the time Paul is born. lol, but that’s just what I’m thinking.

@@WhosNathaniel Um, no. Just being a Dune spinoff doesn’t automatically sell itself. They really needed to push the marketing for this show, and I don’t think they did that in any meaningful way. Dune isn’t as popular as people assume, which sounds weird considering how well the movies performed, but the films succeeded because the recognizable cast and incredible storytelling created a buzz. The lack of effort to tie this series to the movies in the marketing feels like a misstep to me for that reason. Anecdotally, I know tons of people who loved the new movies but had no clue this series existed-let alone when the first episode was dropping. Different vibe from movies, seemed a little weak in its story telling with a lot of telling not showing but still not bad just not at the level as the movies.

Wow God Emperor spoilers lol. Anyway, there’s no reason to believe that swordsmaster Atreides is an ancestor of Paul and not just some relative.

@ in 10,000 years there would be thousands and thousands of people with that last name who would born and die. Lots of whom would never even reproduce

Ryan- If no one has ever heard a term pronounced aloud, then no worries at all! We all struggle with pronunciation. But for the love of god, when an actor on screen PRONOUNCES THE WORD ALOUD, is there any reason to struggle with pronunciation??? Like literally just copy the sound your ear hears when you’re watching the screen. I guess it’s just trolling for engagement at this point, which is understandable but such a sad state of affairs. Be better, KZbin.

Yep, the first one had French language clips, because ScreenCrush couldn't be bothered to watch the video spat out by their automatic editing before sending it to their 1.67 million subscribers.
