I realize that the movie only suggested that Harkonnen were enemies but the issue was a blood feud or "kanly" due to a perceived insult to Harkonnen. The Harkonnen lord of the time refused an order from the Emperor to attack an enemy. The Atreides accepted the Emperor's task. Also House Corrino and House Atreides are related; distant cousins. The Emperor wants the Duke dispatched but wants it cleanly; a courtesy to noble blood. Dr. Yueh's revenge shows the process done poorly.

Jan Skarsgard was incredible in this role. He was menacing and absolutely corrupt in the most subtle way possible. I don’t know anything about acting or about film making, but I do know that a great storyteller makes me forget that it is only a story. This was masterful storytelling because all of my disbelief was completely suspended from the first frame of this film to the very last. Now, that is legendary level storytelling.

That's an interesting coincidence, no doubt intentional. In the novel, the backstory is it's the head of a Salusan bull that killed Duke Leto's father in the ring. The horns are still covered in the Old Duke's blood, and Leto's decree is that it always be positioned so it's facing his father's portrait.

Thats the entire idea. In reality, your not gonna always have perfectly lit areas of vision. Stands to reason that cinema shouldnt be perfectly lit either. It worked perfectly for Dune, because the lighting made everything seem 1000x more realistic.
