On Vancouver Island - You can only collect/harvest Male Dungeness @ 6 1/2". You guys in Cali got it good from what I can see.

Not for long in California. Calif want to use the California Air resource board to force commercial boats to change their engines or add adaptations to meet air standards set by the (CARB) This means loads of commercial boats that serve the public will likely be forced out of business if they cant find the money to retrofit their boats engines. Coming off Covid and the lack of income the (CARB) plan is absolutely insane. As is no pot can be used per another DFW whale assessment leaving only rings and snares for the crab. Also if you leave your snare or ring in the water more than 2 hours unattended your in violation. Calif DFW wants to make it as hard as possible and force anglers to convert to freshwater fishing which is 10 times more profitable for the Calif DFW.

Hey, great videos man! I recently start kayak fishing in the area, as a tip, if you hold the crabs upside down they go into a catatonic like state, makes them a lot easier to handle. Can't believe you're holding them at the claws.

New DFW whale assessment is scheduled for 11-22. What's silly is recreational anglers take only a fraction of the crab vs the commercial and The line shots recreational anglers use are also tiny in relationship to whale entanglement. DFW needs to give recreational anglers their pots back

It is a minn Kota but it is specifically designed for the kayak I have. I don't think you can buy it for other kayaks

Rock crab have hard shells that make it hard to get to the meat. Not worth the effort unless they are huge.

The claws are often a thrill to get open but I haven't seen the legs or body being too bad. I always accept any legal size rock crab anyone wants to give me. They are a bit more work to eat but still good.

You should’ve gone out today! I went and caught limits for 4 in just 3 hours and a half! But threw back about 15-20 keepers to switch out for bigger ones or they were soft shells. Caught about 10, 7+ inches as well. Overall the best crabbing day I experience on my little boat
