You could put felt in one of those panels and then have felt cutouts for kids to play with. Felt sticks to felt (pretty well). You can Google some ideas. So, like a green felt background and then have felt cutouts of flowers, clouds, a sun, little houses, animals, etc that kids can move around to create pictures.

@KrisanthiaMum Жыл бұрын
This is a good idea. My students love our felt story board. I have dozens of bags with stories in each one. As you read the story, the children use the shapes/animals/letters/numbers to create their “vision” of how the story would be illustrated.

Regarding the nursery: This is totally not what you had in mind but one of the panels, you could paint with chalk board paint and let children decorate it with colorful chalk. I'm certain they will give you many years of evolving masterpieces. As far as birds and flowers and what not - you could paint something like a story such as from a children's picture book. Make up your own story. A circular story would be fun. Think light sabers, flower fairies, sparkles flying from magic wands, choo-choo trains, mermaids in the moat, etc. Study what children like to see in illustrations. They really don't see much out of a lot of clutter, usually. They see big bold things. Or, maybe you could do something like a board game treasure map of the Beau Chateau grounds. Is there anything special on the grounds that kids might like, and they could search for? Maybe a jungle gym? Maybe a maze? Maybe a nature identification game? Maybe a giant magic tree? Avoid scary looking stuff. You never know what's going to frighten children but I'd say if there is a common element to a visual which frightens children, it is eyes - make sure whatever eyes you paint are very very friendly.

We did consider the chalkboard in the nursery room but ultimately decided that would be in the kids room next door. This nursery will be for infants who need a quiet place during weddings and events. We have a large picture frame that we will use for the chalkboard idea. We love your magic tree idea! We actually have a similar hope for a very different room 😉 we will likely add decor and entertainment for the little ones over time. Thanks for your ideas!

Hello, my friends 👋🏻 from a very snowy and cold, Massachusetts usa. I just wanted to write a message for Ian to caution. If you use reclaimed wood for food preparation, I thought I could see on the outside of the cider barrel that you might’ve been grinding through layers of old paint, (but it was unclear for me. )… I just wanted to remind you to never use any lead-based paint for food items…. It can embed itself into the fibre of the wood, and it’s just a risk, not worth taking…. However !!!! I might have a really interesting idea for that awesome gift…. if you could put the brackets back on it and turn it into a wall mount to hold an ancient sword or something it could be a really beautiful display mount if you put more work into it… I thought that’s what you were going to say were showing off the awesome gift …. It just looks like sword wall mount display LOL…. Whatever ends up happening, I know it’s going to be impressive! I wish I could jump through the screen and come help use some chores, because it would be a treat for me to spend some time with you guys and work on such a magical property ! Sigh….. going to have to sit here snuggling with my new kitten in my cozy electric blanket LOL Good work, my friends and good luck !! 🤞🏻

Thank you for your insight on the stave! There was no lead paint on this stave but Ian has been talking about buying a real sword for our fireplace and that would have been perfect for it! Our cider pal from Normandy offered us a few more old staves since we enjoyed this one so much, so perhaps a sword mount is still possible! 🤓

The cider stave cutting board is beautiful! Well done! If it ends up being too fragile to use as a cutting board, you could use it as a cheese and nibbles platter and it will still look incredible. I do that with some of my vintage timber trays that I don’t want to damage too much with overuse.

Hello, I am so happy to see a new video on all the progress on the Chateau. The Nursery is beautiful white, Yaaay! But the Pistachio has got to go, it is not a good color for that room. Pink, Pastel blue for sure, even a nice yellow, but that color gives me Prison Ward color. Also do not wallpaper that room . It deserves proper murals.Or Mirrors . No cloth, Keep it clean.The idea is clearly creative and sweet, but you could put in a nice Writing board that fits on a wall perhaps. The Dungeon is another matter,I would only discuss in private. I loved the cider board until it broke, Also what about the beautiful hardware on that board? I was broken hearted to see you not replace the hardware? Where is the hardware? It was so beautiful! Anyway, Love what you have accomplished it is a feat of love, blood and sweat and tears I hope the leaky Dungeon can be remedied. Much Love!

For the nursery, your suggestion reminded me way too much of flowers in the attic by VC Andrews. I would honestly try to stay away from that, and the idea of using a thematic wallpaper in that space or even a fabric in that space that is nursery themed I think would be so beautiful. That's my thought, but you need to do what your vision is telling you to do and what would ultimately make you happiest whenever you go into the room

Definitely set up a felt wall in the nursery. I was going to say velcro dots on cutouts, but felt is easier to maintain. I would be interested in a follow-up on your basement flooding. It sounds like your local stormwater management agency has allowed the wrong pitch to develop, resulting in your moat levels being too high? (Our local stormwater agency constructed a whole wetland to help a frequently-flooded neighborhood, and it only works partially!) Is there a way to seal off the entry points where water is getting in?
