shouldn't the fire plane be white or blue at these temperatures?
@draxthemsklonst5 жыл бұрын
Yes! But also kinda no... Light filtered through stone (lava) and soot in the air tends to make it appear more redish. Lava is red, yet it's ~1200° Celsius. Tool steel, for example, goes from straw color, to brown, to purplish, then BLUE, even hotter its gray all over again, then hotter it's red, then orange and even hotter than all of that tool steel will be bright yellow @ over 1000° Celsius. Looking at superhot things from a distance (filtered though air particles) makes the color SEEM more red, though. Hence why lava looks red/orange, the heat is filtered through the liquid-stone.

Hey AJ, guess what? I took your advice, found a local game store 15 minutes walk from campus, asked if they had a D&D group that meet at the store, went down to the basement ( because yes, that IS where they meet) introduced myself, bribed the players and DM with chips and soda, learned their names, and next Saturday I'm going to my fourth session! Thanks AJ! Turns out that all I needed was a little confidence boost and a nudge in the right direction. Also, turns out none of them have heard of your channel. Interesting tidbit: Salamanders’ connection to fire is tied to the superstitions of early Europeans. Salamanders, looking for cool, moist places to hide when not swimming around in streams or ponds, would hole up in fallen logs. Said logs were then collected, and when it came time to feed the fire, the salamanders would scurry out of the flames, seemingly unharmed.

I had an idea for a destructive monster from the plane of fire: Brass Monkeys. They are kept as pets by some of the Efreeti and are basically a simple animal but relatively intelligent as such. What the Efreeti find funny is occasionally unleashing them on prime material worlds, as being natives of the plane of fire they have sort have become blind to it in a way. Picture a fish only knowing water it's entire life, simply just accepts it the same way you & I accept the ocean of gasses we are at the bottom of, they just don't think about it ... until it's gone. When on the prime material world most of them will be seeing things being destroyed by fire for the first time, this sends them into a panicked state as walls & trees don't normally start to disappear when you touch them etc. This causes them to panic & hyperventilate, unfortunately they breath fire as a default, so more catches on fire & they flee setting more things on fire. Efreeti keep them for this reason as sometimes they can send them instead of having to be summoned themselves by a wizard attempting to summon an elemental. Most have them outfitted with some kind of enchanted item to let them see what the Brass Monkey sees, as the sight of a wizard who thought they were going to get a fire spirit slave, screaming as his library is destroyed by a panicked elemental monkey is great comedy. Use the stats for a monkey from the D&D wiki homebrew page, give them immunity to fire, the elemental subtype and fire breathing.

I want to see a large scale battle between Salamander and Hobgoblin Armies.
@That80sGuy19725 жыл бұрын
The Hobgoblins would win... at a great loss... and would really brag about the win because of the sacrifice. Hobgoblins are akin to Salamanders in their points of view, but Hobgoblins have the advantage of greater numbers and (battlefield Prime Material) knowledge (obsession over) how to kill fire beings in their world. Hobgoblins have killed intruding SUPERIOR beings like White Dragons. They have repelled and earned the respect of Red Dragons. They have formed alliances with Green Dragons. They brokered alliances with Dwarves against Dark Elves despite being enemies. Hobgoblin top-tier guys would have at least one genie as a contact, most likely an Efreet. That would also be a big issue. Salamanders may be superior, physically, but Hobgoblins have the win on this. After the win, they would rebuild from their mostly ashen group by aggressive military spoils of war claiming.

It's been over a year since I heard it, yet one line from "Death Shall Have No Dominion" by Dylan Thomas came to me while watching this video (read below). "And death shall have no dominion. Dead men naked they shall be one With the man in the wind and the west moon; When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone, They shall have stars at elbow and foot; Though they go mad they shall be sane, Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again; Though lovers be lost love shall not; And death shall have no dominion. And death shall have no dominion. Under the windings of the sea They lying long shall not die windily; Twisting on racks when sinews give way, Strapped to a wheel, yet they shall not break; Faith in their hands shall snap in two, And the unicorn evils run them through; Split all ends up they shan't crack; And death shall have no dominion. And death shall have no dominion. No more may gulls cry at their ears Or waves break loud on the seashores; Where blew a flower may a flower no more Lift its head to the blows of the rain; Though they be mad and dead as nails, Heads of the characters hammer through daisies; BREAK IN THE SUN 'TIL THE SUN BREAKS DOWN, And death shall have no dominion."
