Yes they do, the organs in the humanoid torso are much smaller in the various tauroids, so they can take an arrow to the chest and are usually able to recover.

Its probably needed to be an effective circulatory system. Id imagine they'd also have a bundle of nerves to act as a secondary brain just for regulating the extended nervous system amd acting like a relay msking sure the signal strength of the electric impulses are strong enough and fast enough to allow the nerves and blood vessels work. making sure of quick reflexes . some dinosaurs had this feature like the steggasaurs and ankylosaurs had them to allow fast tail function...and maybe because the steggo would have been possibly just too stupid to work it's own rear section with its walnut sized skull-brain...it needed a brain in it's ass too apparently!

Great video, i had a Wemic long ago and sadly he was mixed up in a very bad group (Alignment). He was corrupted and became a very ferocious Ranger/Mage that wreaked havoc across the lands. We had a very cut throat group lol, was fun and scary as you had no idea if your character was going to make it through to the next day, from foe or ally during peaceful times! Long live Kor "The Savage" Danzigger! or Torin Grey when he was trans-morphed into a by-pedal were-wemic creature thingy (he lost his mind/forgot who he was and that's why a name change)

If somebody demonstrates the effectiveness of mounted cavalry to a group of wemic and tried to explain the idea of using them as mounts with (human, elf, or what have you) archers protecting their flankc and rear in combat... One of my players, despite some struggles, loved his Wemic player character. He had a bunch of groans and moans when the players traveled to an area menaced by lamias. Many local yokals assumed the Wemic was a lamia traveling, blatantly open, with her thralls. A Lamia heard of the party from her liar via her thralls and threw fuel on the flame. I loved the Humanoids' Handbook, it gave me a great guide to allowing my more ambitious players not only play the humanoids but gave me guidelines on how to tweak other creatures no in the book so players can play them. The players did find a way to go back to their hometown armory quickly. That was the only place the Wemic player character had an armorer that specialized in centaur-style armor... he was a centaur living among humans, raised by them. He worked with a guild mage that allowed him to use found armor to customize it into the Wemic's form. Once the Wemic PC started wearing custom armor, other Wemics scoffed at him as being a Wemic slur for a wannabe human. Female Wemics kept rejecting him outright because of that. Role play and region are actual things in my storytelling. Great video AJ. I have a PC sample size of 1 for this though... why this comment is so lame, this is the best one I got because of that. And to think, Wemics used to be a monster to kill by another party when they were commisioned by a group of Druids to save the great cats of the area. I put the equivilant of that group as an antagonist to the PC Wemic and his group too. To my surprise, a diplomatic solution was formed.

Very interesting monster. I think if I were to include them in my world, they'd be apart of the Feywild in Maztica. Replacing the normal Centaurs one would normally find in the Feywild, the one in Maztica would provide a contrast for Maztica's thick jungles with Savannah like biomes, creatures such as the Wemic giving trade and sometimes even physical aid to the Tabaxi/Lupin/any other race within Maztica. But that's just me.

I had a wemic player in a 3.5 game years ago. It was a larger group, and he was one of the melee tanks. A normal strategy in the group was for the wizard to start combat with a fireball and stay back with the archers, then the melee people would rush in. The wemic player, knowing this and seeing it regularly, started focusing on feats that would let him act first. Then he started rushing into the middle of enemies before the wizard could do a fireball. The rest of the group decided that the actions of one wemic would not affect the group's tried and true strategy, so the wizard kept up the opening act fireball, and every time the wemic player would complain because he got caught in it. I tried telling him it was his own fault. And apart from that character, I have always loved the wemic.

Wemics are an important part of my current campaign, where the party is a group of secret police hired by a mercenary company for their monstrous races (orcs, minotaurs, centuar, and a warforged who is in world a gargoyle who lost most of his powers) to find and stop a secret cult wishing to overtake the world. Essentially the wemic serve as the campaign's neutral force that everyone wants on their side but no one can convince them to join the war and are too afraid of pissing them off by trying to cripple them. So the party has tried everything to convince them to not join the anti-civilization cult, including doing quests for little pay and challenging them to a fight. Everything that is but offer them spices and beer. Which is the canon only way to sway them to join a side in my campaign. It's quite humorous.

There was also a sizable population of wemics on the Shining Plains in pre-spellplague days. They were by far the most significant race in the area and long standing agreements between the local cities allowed limited trade between the Vilhon Reach and the Dragon Coast. In one of my camapigns they formed a significant background part of the plot and world, but the players only really touched on them and an escalation of tension between those who were attracted by Nobanion, and those who were drawn to Malar. Neither of the factions were drawn particularly to the good or evil aspects of those gods, but stayed pretty neutral. I have loved wemics ever since I came across an inn in Waterdeep named the Wandering Wemic. I frequently steal the name for other random inns and taverns in various campaigns around the Realms, and am able to seed an image of this race via the painted signboard to my players long before they are ever introduced... if indeed they ever are. If anyone is looking for more information the 2nd ed Vilhon Reach suppliment and the 3rd ed Races of Faerûn are both excellent sources.

I've been writing a story for a campaign where the plot is that Thay has been overthrown by a rebellion of slaves led by a man who seeks to destroy the current pantheon of the gods, destroy the weave itself, and unite all races under the one true creator God who exists beyond the far realm. I think that welcoming Wemics into the grasslands of Cameria (an obvious Anagram for America) sounds like a great addition to the setting.

I don't agree on the facial features, but really, everybody interprets it differently, so tat this remark as a personal opinion. the rest is quite good, you put a lot of details and interesting tidbits into this video. it should give people lots of ideas. :) one good class for wemics is actually witch doctor. the entry in that one dragon magazine actually mentions this, and that witch doctor wemics are looked at with suspicion by the rest of the tribe, for they often tend to strife for leadership by all means. I play such a wemic in our AD&D campaign (yes, I still play it! and it's fun if you do it right!), and it's fun to play along the lines of a very isolated upbringing before he met the group. so there was the situation of dwarves having problems with drow, and we opted to try and help out. my wemic was waiting outside, feeling pressed down by all the rocks above his head, when an old dwarf came by and talking to him. the wemic gor talked into carying the dwarf's groceries home, and of course inquired a lot about this curious, seemingly intelligent and decent, monster. they later drank tea together, and the wemic got hints of a forgotten tunnel they could use to ambush the drow, and a stone with a rune (and protection from claustrophobia as well as orientation in tunnels) from it. the dwarf was gone later, and only pawprints remained in the dust. but the tunnel was there, so they went after the drow. my wemic has still no clue that he was drinking tea with Moradin... but then he never asked, and nobody felt like telling him. :)

This is a great race to place in your campaign Just imagine a party gets taken my a wemic pride to their home after a good hunt and they decide to get hammered Now that is a good time if you ask me Regarding the relationship with centaurs I do believe they would have some problems, centaurs being half human and half food, so the centaurs would have to have something to trade in hopes that they don't get put on the menu for dinner 😉

I think they would get along pretty well after some initial culture shock, once some alcohol got involved. Centaurs could keep up with wemics in races and wrestling and they have similarly boisterous personalities. Wemics are tropical creatures and don't normally interact with creatures from more temperate climates as they each tend to stay where they are naturally comfortable, as Wemics have a superstitious fear of snow and cold weather. Wemics hate other tropical humanoids and monsters. They will kill and/or eat goblins, giant lizards, and Hydrae. Aarakocra and Rocs, however, are permitted in the airspace over Wemic pridelands as long as they don't over hunt, land anywhere but the trees or shit in the water supply. Wemics trade with tropical humans and dwarves and have little to no knowledge of elves, gnomes, or halflings who tend to stay in temperate climates.

I think since their making a great migration the civilizations they're entering will react violently to them especially when they start encroaching on people's hunting grounds. They speak a different language so no one will understand them at first and given their appearance and pest like behavior they are likely to be at war by the time they can communicate. They are nomadic but have no vast plains to return to they would likely be butchered by the more technically advanced humans and dwarves.

dragon ball talk Taur or Taurus is Latin for bull or cow, there’s a reason it’s not called a tigertaur (first off because it’s not even half tiger it’s half lion) cuz it’s name would then mean tigerbull or werebull, both of which makes no sense. There’s more than likely an actual background to their naming just like nearly everything else in this game.

@H3xx996 жыл бұрын
Scott Po in 3.5, the Wemic has a +3 level adjustment, and 5 racial hit dice. So you literally can't start playing one until the rest of the party is level 8. Which is possibly a reason why nobody prints or uses them.
@kyliepoe62316 жыл бұрын
Yeah but I mostly knew them as a monster race, not a playable one. In 3.5 you could play anything with a movement rate.
@H3xx996 жыл бұрын
Scott Po Almost but not quite. There's quite a few creatures who are "Level Adjustment /" meaning you're not supposed to let players play as this type of creature. Several types of constructs are like that. And you can't play as any creature with an Int score less than 3. But I'm just being pedantic now. I really love the self balancing features of 5e... it opens up so many doors...
@kyliepoe62316 жыл бұрын
Not all DMs would allow it, but yes (I'll grant that int exception happily though), you could essentially play anything. They even had rules for race as levels, so you could play a more powerful race starting at lower levels without being imbalanced (in 3.5's opinion). 5e, it's ok. I feel that your experience largely depends on how generous your DM is with advantage, but that's my opinion. I'm personally running my game on the 13th age engine st the moment.
@H3xx996 жыл бұрын
Scott Po I use a stacking advantage houserule. If you can think tactically and make a case for multiple sources of advantage, then you get a +1 to your advantage roll for every source after the first. But this also works the same way with disadvantages. So that tends to help my players a fair bit.

Hey AJ, I've got a video request that is a bit of a touchy subject these days. I wont hold it against you if you just ignore this one. A recent guest on Critical Role played a female dwarf with a 5 o'clock shadow. That really has me pondering how the various fantasy races view gender roles. What is masculine vs feminine for dwarves, dragonborn, orcs etc... I'd love to here your thoughts even if you don't think there is enough there for a video. Edit: You actually go over this topic in a fair amount of detail in this video. May be you have been doing that for each individual race/creature all along and I just wasn't paying attention lol.

Thats a very human-centric viewpoint, the Orcs base their self-worth on their place in the tribe, automatically assuming that not being a warrior is an inferior position is ignoring and downplaying just how incredibly important the role of the tribe itself is, those who protect the resources and raise the next generations of warriors. Female orcs have their own heirarchy and while they may not stand in tribal meetings and aggressively bluster and intimidate males, who do you think puts half the ideas into the heads of the males in the first place? Female orcs are not powerless in their society.. they ARE Orc society.
@dynamicworlds16 жыл бұрын
AJ Pickett I'd also imagine orcs take a bit of a Spartan approach to femininity with an attitude of "it takes strong women to mother strong warriors". Btw, while it's a male example of a physically weaker orc puppeteering things from the shadows (and a rather extreme one with evil arcane ambitions), the forward to the orc section in the Warcraft 2 manual may provide some inspiration if you want an example of such a character who amasses a large amount of power. (Though keep in mind the rule of thumb for stealing ideas: never from just one source) www.google.com/url?q=ftp.blizzard.com/pub/misc/Warcraft%25202%2520Battlenet%2520edition.PDF&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwjpvaiL8-DcAhVBh-AKHQiKB98QFggLMAA&usg=AOvVaw11Dpmj8ZuAoey8JglAVG8P But yes, as mentioned, with the apperent leaders dying so often there would have to be a more stable power structure actually running things.
@AJPickett6 жыл бұрын
Well if it is just a matter of personal opinion, I think they are more like Klingons than humans. There are no stat penalties for being one gender or another, there are no examples in any literature of orc females fleeing the tribe with their kids, there is a lot of variation in the cultures, customs and size of the various orc tribes, plus, there are orcs on Faerun who came from another planet, and there are civilised orcs (or there were) living in the far east. It's a lot easier to talk about gender roles with Dwarves, Elves and Halflings than it is with Orcs, because a lot more has been written about it.
@dynamicworlds16 жыл бұрын
AJ Pickett I was just talking about the viewpoint of strong women being more desirable than dainty ones and default to historical perspectives normally, but yes, Klingons are another good (and in many ways, more accurate) inspiration point for the reasons mentioned.

Only from a distance, the Wemic have fur on their upper body and face, the Lamia don't, also the Lamia has a much more Human looking head, the Wemic has that distinctive thrusting lower jaw and the females ears are fairly prominant (the males ears are sometimes lost in all that Mane)

Their reverse gender roles would be an interesting thing to role play considering how society is now-a-days. Even still, as a DM, I could add in some social commentary into a campaign with Wemic side quest of some kind. Perhaps something akin to the Wall Market in FF7
