Thanks for a great review Zee and kind words about the art! Loved hearing your thoughts on it and glad to hear you're enjoying it.

Your art is one of my favorite parts of this game! Just some mechanics is fun, but your whimsical art brings the whole game to life! Bravo!

Not sure if the game is for me, but I love the art. It really evokes Juliet Breese’s work in the Key series and Reed Encounter. Very story book. Juliet no longer does the Key series art and there’s a new artist, but if Richard ever were to need a new artist again for the games to come, you’d be a great fit for that series.

This looks like a fun laid back game. Perhaps a better solo game?

Thanks for the review. I was actually drawn to this game because of the theme. Looking forward to picking this one up once it is available in the states.

Just picked this up yesterday. Haven't played it yet, but this review fell pretty much where my first impressions of it were, except for the play time. It might be a bit long for what the game is, but I'm not someone who minds slower moving/longer games, so it doesn't bother me as much. Great review as always!

We figured out a way to speed up the game a bit. We have the house rule that once you access a monster room, you can pass through it even if you haven't defeated the monster yet. It helps keep things moving, and it works well for our group.

Using a dry erase or a felt pen when playing will make open and closed areas a lot more obvious.

Do you need to laminate it first before using a dry erase?

@@Ultra_Kuma Yes. You would have to laminate to use dry erase. I tend to use felt tip markers with games like these on the paper as it’s a lot more clear than a pencil.

This game can get long even in solo BUT it's so simple to save your place and come back to it. I like that because if I get interrupted too much I can just go back to it later. There's nothing to pack up...just push it to the side. I think it should've had better dice. I personally hated the dice so much I changed them out but I just hate wooden dice. Some really COOL proprietary dice would make me happier with the 26 dollar price. Also with the numbers already on the pages it's a probability game that even if I can't figure it out on odds I know that's what I paid for was the number placements.

Totally agree. I used my own dice since I too hate wooden dice, especially these cheap and light ones. Great to play solo especially on a train or plane.

@@arturjos I like PaperDungeons slightly better. There are chances for dice mitigation and it has character powers. I like DD &D but there is NO dice mitigation. The game is quick because you are on a twenty turn clock. It is Paper Dungeons for the win. With DD&D second.

I'm confused as to why you left out the solo rules for this game. The mechanisms are the same but the goal and acquiring damage are quite different. It even has a win/loss condition instead of beat your own score. I've enjoyed playing this game several times solo. It's a great game to play while multitasking and watching a show or movie

I assume because he didn't play it solo. Generally, Mike Dilisio is the only main Dice Tower host that looks at solo modes.

This game is fun but has so many print errors, rules mistakes and mistranslations, it really doesn't seem like it was ready for print. Which is especially a shame since the asking price is $30. It really needs a second edition already, or at least a PnP that can be properly updated.

isn't there only 3 possible results when you have to pair up 2 dice, like in cant stop. And that bumps up to 9 or something if you add a 5 random die
@alexstrang9823
@alexstrang9823 2 жыл бұрын
I only count 6 permutations when using just the white dice...not sure why that seems so overwhelming
@djsolie
@djsolie 2 жыл бұрын
@@alexstrang9823 I don't think that's right. If you have four dice (call them A, B, C & D), there are only three ways to split them up because the leftover two automatically form the second pair (AB/CD; AC/BD; AD/BC). If you only pulled two dice, then there would be six options. With five dice the choice expands out to (I think) 15 options because you aren't forced into your second pair after choosing the first. Pick one of the five dice to be not selected, and three ways to split the choice (5x3=15). For dice A, B, C, D, & E: AB/CD, AB/CE, AB/DE AC/BD, AC/BE, AC/DE AD/BC, AD/BE, AD/CE AE/BC, AE/BD, AE/CD BC/DE, BD/CE, BE/CD If there are duplicate numbers, that'll reduce the number of differences between some of those options.
@llyrghmnghyll
@llyrghmnghyll 2 жыл бұрын
@@djsolie with 4C2 X 2C2 = 6x1 = 6 possible combinations , if it's 5 dice it's 5C2 x 3C2 = 10 x 3 = 30 possible combinations. that said 30 is unlikely as that would require no duplicate numbers which is highly unlikely on 5 dice, 5/54 chance or less than 1/10 (on 4 dice it's 5/16 or less than 1/3)
@djsolie
@djsolie 2 жыл бұрын
@@llyrghmnghyll Using 4C2 counts AB as a different choice from choosing CD. Whereas, if you pick AB you have CD as your second pair, and if you pick CD you have AB as your second pair. Those choices are equivalent. In the first option, WLOG take die A. You need to assign one other die to be added to it: B, C or D. The other two dice get added together. You only have three choices (presuming no duplicates). And it ultimately shouldn't matter which die A you select. I believe that issue is in your second calculations as well I do agree it is not common that the dice would all roll differently. I think that the answer to all 5 dice being different would be 6P5/6^5, which I believe is the same as 5/54. I have been out of stats for a while, and don't use them all that frequently though, so my math might be a bit rusty.
@llyrghmnghyll
@llyrghmnghyll 2 жыл бұрын
@@djsolie yeah, I did mess that up.- the formula the second possibility is 15, so I'm still trying to figure out the actual formula. It's something like (nCy* (n-y)Cy)/f(y) where n is the total dice, y is the number of grouped dice and f(y) is the function of y I can't figure out.
