Just got done playing this for the first time. I love games where you just do one small thing on your turn but there's still some decent strategy behind it. It's so simple but instead of being a small box game they went all out on production. It's very approachable and can easily be enjoyed by anyone. I'm very happy I backed this one and I'm glad that it'll soon be widely available. This is the perfect game for places like Target to sell!

I know when Zee and Mike both love a game I'm going to love it, too. Between this, Mike's solo play, and its appearances during the Winter Spectacular, you sold me and I splashed out on the Kickstarter edition. First "bigger" game I've bought since 2020 (I'm basically only able to solo game now) and I'm so glad I did. Gorgeous, not hard to learn, with just enough thinky-ness. Thanks guys! :)

Right there with you, guys. Really great game. Best one in the line so far. BTW, I just played Ark Nova for the first time yesterday- finally! and liked it too. So a light trek through history and a heavy zookeeping.... it's all good!

Wow! I picked this up because of the theme and art and the mechanics made me think Century Golem. Glad I got it off the KS page. Looking forward to tearing open that shrink wrap.

Have played it a few times and 100% agree. Super easy to jump into but some subtle depth that can keep you coming back. Fantastic game. Easily my favorite of the series.

I passed on backing the game because I was concerned it might not be as distinct from other Trekking games as it looks like it is. Glad to hear I was wrong. This looks great.

Tried this out at Gen con and while it is no doubt a beautiful production and the gameplay is solid, the lightness and abstractness of the gameplay kind of felt like a waste of a theme. You have these beautiful cards depicting historical figures and great historical achievements, and all you really care about is the little color symbols on the bottom and the year. It seemed like the symbols were supposed to correspond to different types of historical moments (cultural vs technological vs social milestones) but it didn't actually matter at all in the gameplay, you just are focusing on if you want red or blue or yellow or green. I haven't played the other Trekking games so maybe this is just the kind of lightweight game that this series is known for. But for a history game I wish I'd been able to engage more with the history on the cards. Maybe being able to choose your path a little more, so you can focus more on certain types of events to have a thematic trek, rather than just completing an abstract table of symbols. Not a bad game per se, but I think I would have enjoyed the gameplay more if it were more purely abstract, or the theme more if it were better integrated into the gameplay.

Quite bummed the solo mode is a KS version exclusive. Sure there's a PnP but the difference in quality between the game and the printed solo components would bug me

I backed this game (first and only game I've backed so far) and I really like the style of solo mode, where you're playing against a faux opponent rather than just trying to beat a score. It had interesting decisions of its own - for instance, trying to spend time crystals before the Historian can take them away. I can't wait to play this game with my family.

I love this game. ❤ My only negative is that in the Kickstarter solo mode you have only one option if you want to play a weight game. There is no way to change things up unless you want to play it with an a or an mode, Each difficulty mode has only one option. So after your first play through you already know what the AI is going to do, and it’s going to be the same every time, in each of the four difficulty modes. I hope that they come up with an expansion for solo play to make this more replayable.
@Mari-lf9kg

By using the underline function I inadvertently erased key words in my post above and it would not allow me to edit. In short, if I want to play a medium weight solo game, rather than an easy, hard or extreme game, there is only one option for the AI, so you already know exactly what it is going to do every time. I hope they come out with more solo mode player cards in the near future.

I backed it in Kickstarter and have played it a few times 2 player (I did not play with time warp yet). In the limited plays we have had I have found that the treks are the way to win. My wife literally won the first game by picking just the lowest age cards. I then tried that same strategy the next game and I won. I really like the game, but I am hoping that there is more of a decision space than just pick the lowest year to create the longest trecks possible. Has anyone else run into this issue?
@tphan300
@tphan300 Жыл бұрын
The longest treks don't always win in my plays with my GF. One game I had about 60 points from the itineraries and two 7 card treks and a 3 card trek and was able to get 96 points and won by 9 points when my GF had a 6 and 10 card trek. I think if you're able to fill out most of your itineraries each day, you have a better chance to win even with slightly shorter treks (about 7 cards) since itineraries are worth over 20 points if they're mostly completed. I do try to get to the 10 card trek but if that's not possible, I try to get to at least 7 cards and fill out the itinerary as much as possible.

You looked through all the time warp cards? We stopped playing with them because so many were very ambiguous. With no clarifications on the rules many seemed unplayable. Others were so weak they were unused. We played an entire 4 player game without anyone using any time warp cards. For us it was fun.... But not excellent

Hi, I have the game and it isn’t actually US centric at all. I think about 15 of the 108 cards are US history. The rest are from all around the world and are beautifully illustrated with a little bit of history on the back of each one.

Both have backed it, perfect example of being hyped about something and not being able to review it the same way as a game that is presented to you... Both 9... rarely happens... for me the game is just a bit like splendor... a solid 6. It also feel they are really selling the game. Living forest for example is a really ingenious game, not perfect but defenitly more inventive than this game... they gave a 7... 🤔 Watch out people, dont get fooled by fomo
