I just got the two sets today. $3 bucks each, even if you don't fully use them, it's D&D and 6 bucks.

Cons are pretty well covered. Pros: the locking tiles open up some irregular dungeon layouts compared to a chessex mat (my usual way to run combat). Also allows room by room fog of war without shuffling papers around the map to expose/hide areas. The cling decos allow some manipulation of objects, fix more securely than cardstock, look nicer than my drawing, and don't make elevation changes that make minis and counters unstable. Seems like minor upgrade if you already have a battlemat or tiles, not unreasonable if you price out a big mat and the time/effort to make the decos yourself out of cardstock, and a nice box to store it all in. Biggest question is if they are going to support these and the creature sheets with new or replacement decals. That is the real value added element.

Seems about right for the price. The snap together tiles are not a common type of battlemap, and will run you about ~40 bucks. The clings, bigger board, and storage make it worth while. Clings let you prepare the tiles ahead of time, revealing each snap tile as they explore.

I would make the argument that you could prep your terrain and then collapse them with the adhesive rather than needing to place your tokens again. This was the only product from this product line i am considering as I will be playing in person soon

A little off topic, but I never understood why WOC never published all kinds of character/creature pawns (like Pathfinder did, which was a cash cow for them) which would make things WAY more affordable for players. I guess it might cut into their profits from sales of their minis, but otherwise I think they're missing out on a lot of potential sales. Edit: I initially made my comment prior to watching your vid, lol. Seems you came to the same conclusion.

Wow! I did not expect it to be so bad. You literally have one bridge but nothing to cross with it. No water, no gully in fact no three D aspects at all. There are nowhere near enough trees to make a forest and there is nothing to make a path. And no walls in your dungeon, no buildings in your urban setting which is absolutely identical to your Dungeon. If you want everywhere you got to be flat boring and the same as the place you went to last week this is the set for you. So so bad. Thank you for showing us everything, I think you could have tried applying and removing a cling to see how easily they come up, but it doesn't really matter I've seen enough.

I never bought into terrain props and such, why should I drop 65 on this when I could just get a chessex mat and a few markers? I could have been interested if they put some miniatures in this (I found out that they are becoming difficult to find locally) but just a box of tiles is not worth it in my opinion.

Yeah. This set is just a competitive Product. It’s meant to be a challenge against the LOKE Terrain people who came out with their Box of Adventure set. And honestly they got much better line of Terrain stuff for much cheaper.
@nicka3697
@nicka3697 Жыл бұрын
The box of adventure is really nice not super thick but perfectly serviceable and it has an artistic style, elevations, walls. There are different tiles for caves, dungeon halls and different ruins, hills and forest roads as opposed to what we have here green splodgy or grey.

I would have preferred cardboard accessories instead of stickers, but I guess they must've been cheaper? Something similar to the dungeon tiles box they used to do. I guess they want to try something new and see if it sticks. But really I think Pathfinder has the winning formula on cheap accessories to be fair.
@johnberry5296

This is …..underwhelming. Not buying this. The tiles are so boring and the clings are a straight rip-off of what Loke Battlemaps have been producing for years, they actually work really well as they stay on the map until you want to pull them off, unlike tokens that slide around in play. Take a look at Loke’s stuff you’re better off with their Books of Battlemats which have 80 different maps in each set, then use some clings to spruce them up (or draw directly on them with markers)
@Ashwgun
@Ashwgun 2 жыл бұрын
so glad they didn't do pawns, very cheap, I have some 2d minis, that are clear. I like the idea of the terrain, but I have a ton of tokens that do same things as clings and big mats

Honestly, this kind of stuff is cool if you’re making your own stuff, and you design your maps around the terrain you have. But if you’re trying to do published adventures, you can never get things to fit right.

I'm sorta split on this... The presentation is nice and this would be a wonderful way for a new DM to get terrain. Yet, the price is a bit steep. And I do have concerns about the longevity of the clings. Ah well, I usually prefer "Theater of the Mind" style gaming. And the few times I don't, my Chessex wet erase map is more than enough to get the job done!

ya'll really don't understand what this product is. its a lighter, more convenient alternative to the cardboard sets. those carboard sets are alot heavier, take up way more space and are a pain in the ass to transport. this case is clearly for the dm on the go hence the name "case" the I have colorform stickers (which is the exact same thing as clings) from the 80's that still work perfect. I think this is a great product. damn, the older DND community really loves to complain about everything nowadays huh?
