@davidbailey16893 жыл бұрын
I’ve been using these accessories for some years now, I love that hack of yours. The really clever aspect of the retainers that attach to the camera (or long lens) is the Wear Indication. At the point where the cord retainer folds over itself, at the camera anchor points, there will be abrasion taking place as the camera weight rubs the retainer cords against one another. When the cord begins to wear the sublayer of the cord will be revealed - and it is yellow, so it shows up and warns that cord and retainer unit needs to be swapped out. If that is ignored and wear continues the next sublayer of the cord is red and becomes visible. Time to REALLY get that retainer swapped out. I should add that, after three years of daily usage, I have not experienced any wear whatsoever. A superb pair of products and worth every penny/cent/centime…..

Great overview of the Peak Design straps and clip I have been using that hack for years as the original capture clip has cut outs for the attachments to pass through that way they don’t get pinched by the clip when it is tightened it’s a shame they didn’t add those slots to the newer version.

Great tips! Love PD’s system. My favorite strap is actually the Leash, even with my chunky Nikon gear. I attach PD’s included anchor base to the tripod mount, another option. So everything hangs off the bottom, away from my hands. Works with Capture Clip plate too (plate with anchors will still fit in Clip). Need to try your strap / clip combo setup! Super versatile straps 👏🏻

I love the Peak Design Capture Clip, and I’ve standardized everything on Arca Swiss plates, so I had a quandary when I wanted to add an L-Bracket. I didn’t want the bulk of an L-Bracket and a separate Capture Clip on the bottom. I found the 3 Legged Thing "Ellie PD Capture V3 Compatible Universal L-Bracket”. It has a Peak Design compatible clip machined into the bottom, saving some thickness. The bracket is Arca Swiss compatible in both landscape and portrait orientation. The bracket is “universally adjustable”, but you do want to pick the regular or short version so as not to block your battery door. The regular version works well on my Sony A7III.
@dunnadidit3 жыл бұрын
I gotta look into that!
@bhchriste3 жыл бұрын
I have the Ellie PD l-bracket. Great quality, only slightly annoyed it's only v3 compatible as I started with V1, then V2 and finally got the V3 as well. The old PD quick release plate works with all three, the Ellie PD only with V3. Apart from that it's a great product.

Cannot wait to give it a crack out in the field, think I might even purchase a second capture clip to have attached to the Pro Pad on my belt for easy swaping in and out from slide to hip / waist. Absolute GOLD! Better still I am going to try your tip by attaching the capture to the base of my telezoom plate and solely carry my xf100-400 attached to the zooms plate via the capture whilst my XH1 is at my hip housing my smaller xf16-55mm zoom or Prime. Thanks mate you've just given me some really good ideas for easy transporting of my gear via the Capture .

Brilliant hack, thanks! 5:48 You can still have the right orientation of the camera (lens down) even if the clip is directly attached to your belt since the arca plate is square, it can go in sideways. The Pro Pad might make it more comfortable though, but I've found myself not using it as much recently and just attaching direct.

I use the sling in combination with the side hand strap. Security and comfort, helps me go from casual walk to ready shoot. Hand strap alleviats some fatigue from having to grip my heavy camera and lens. But the locking mechanism has never worked for me. Not on this strap or the bags. No matter what position i have the lever, it still adjusts during use.

Liked, and subscribed. It is good to see that the Capture Clip has been improved, since the one I examined, which was probably the first version. And, if I adopt the Capture Clip, your hack may well come in handy. Thus far, I have used the Slide on several DSLRs, at least since 2015, when I wore a Nikon D700, with a 24-70/2.8 lens, all days, every day, during a trip that lasted more than a week.

I've definitely had the sigma 100-400 on there... It's not the most comfortable necessarily but that's pretty normal with a camera with the 100-400 on it. The strap itself can hold a lot and the little nubbins are super strong too.
