Crazy $300 LUXURY Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Today ‪@betsythomps‬ and I discover the luxury side of Colombo, Sri Lanka as we visit the famous Shangri-La hotel. It was an incredible stay for us both in our first ever 5* hotel and allowed us to show our viewers the expensive side of Sr Lanka. It's so nice to see you guys enjoying the great things in Sri Lanka. Shangri-La Colombo seems to be of top quality and that kind of luxuries are well worth for $300 pn, including a complimentary breakfast, compared to top end hotels in other countries. The land what you see from your window is called The Port City, fully reclaimed land from the sea. Yes funded by the Chinese, and sadly all the Chinese investments in SL and other third world nations are very controversial. Same goes to the new airport built inside a world renowned birds sanctuary, next to the Yala National Park where you visited. The deep south was huge jungle reserved as national parks. A sea port too was built in the national forest where many large herds of elephants used to roam, now they have lost their habitat. All that is happening in that very small island. Nevertheless it is their business to sort it out. Happy traveling and thanks for giving us a glimpses of Sri Lanka. Waiting for the next one. By the way after this I have to watch Beth's video as it is showing up on the list. Cheers!

Nice view around the restaurant with nice environment nearby sea 🌊 so the wind every time giving comfort from hot. Restaurant is looking like luxury flat. So so great. Bbb

Moon cakes for Mid Autumn Festival aka Moon Cake Festival, one of very important festivals to Chinese. By the way I noticed you get level 13 in elevators in SL, not in the US as it is superstitious, seems to be not so superstitious in SL. Sorry I love all travels where you mingle with the locals, down trodden people, and staying with them. This is a bit oddity for me, nevertheless I liked it, everyone has his/her own taste/s. Baked beans on toast, tea and biscuits, cakes, obviously you both English. Take care!

Ahhh that makes sense, thanks very much for the information :) Yes, we much prefer the local and authentic side of travels, but whilst we were in Colombo we wanted to just get an idea of what luxury is like here! After this one night stay we went straight back into our normal routine though haha

Oh man. Yeah the view is great no doubts. But I just thought that the room would be bigger. Looks compact as well not even a balcony though. At least It's worth for $300 if it's an all inclusive package. Not a complain but in my view, little bit more deserve for $300. Nice vlog anyway. I don't know if you are already in LK. If you are then just try Hotel RIU.

Hello, That is a lovely luxury hotel in Colombo for you to be with all the facilities. You can choose your favourite kind of foods. Tourists are mostly staying in this hotel overviewing the sea and Gall Face beach in Colombo

Prices are normal for a 5 star hotel. 4500rs which is $14 for a breakfast is great value for money, same breakfast at the same hotel in Paris London Barcelona will be $30-40. A sandwich in Borough market is £8-12 Your budget travellers, which is fine but maybe your not the best people to review a 5 star hotel if your gonna say expensive to everything. But nice video

Sri Lankan American here. We paid $133 at the Cinnamon Grand.Their breakfast is great and it's included in the price. We spent 4 nights there in 2019.

@@dunneytravelsinsane comment ..make sure you check out the walls in the next room you stay on ….when the Sri Lankan rupee was strong against the pound the menu prices were very good value but even now it’s still good value the country is dealing with economic crisis and food prices etc have had to increase and same with alcohol government increased prices recently I live in Sri Lanka and have been coming to Sri Lankan previously for 11 years and watched a lot of bloggers doing the same as you …I’ve watched a few of your videos and everything can’t be insane and incredible all of the time just a comment
