Love your list of materials ... especially the ones that are "not optional" - "Plenty of Patience" and "Well lit room". Well said! And well done. Very good directions. Instead of knitting a 'nose' for a Koala bear hat, I'm going to embroider it on - just think it will look nicer. So excited to try your method.

Oh Claire! I think thats a wonderful idea!! A stitched nose will be absolutely darling! I love using duplicate stitch in my knitting, though I've been more drawn to traditional embroidery in modern designs recently. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you found my side notes fun. I appreciate the kind words!

Thanks for this super clear tutorial! Any chance you can point to a tutorial/description for how to make the slip stitch border around the stockinette, as in the green fabric onto which you embroidered the heart?
@PattymacMakes6 жыл бұрын
Actually it's on my list to make one, so I'll add to my list for the next batch of tutorials. Basically you work in pattern to the last stitch. Bring the yarn forward, slip the last stitch knit wise, turn the work. Work in pattern to the last stitch, bring the yarn forward slip the last stitch knit wise. I hope that helps! It's so easy!❤️

Does the yarn need to be the same type? Say I used super bulky for the piece but the color I like for the embroidery is in really fine.
@PattymacMakes4 жыл бұрын
It should be the same weight. If you stitch over the fabric in a finer weight of yarn, it won't cover the underlying stitches in the fabric. If it it's worsted or something, you could double or triple your strands and try doing it that way, but it might get to be tangled. You should knit a swatch in the super bulky weight you want to use and then test with the yarn you want to use for the duplicate stitch and see if you can get it to work. But if you're trying to do fingering weight or lace weight, I think it's going to be too hard. I does work best when you use the same weight and brand of yarn.

Thanks for the tutorial. I don’t see the link. Will you please link it here? Thanks

That website is down now and I haven't gotten this project onto the new site yet. If you email me, I will share the pattern with you. I''ll have to load it onto my google drive with my other printables and link over. My email in is my about section on the main page.

What size knitting needles did you use. I want to try this.
@PattymacMakes4 жыл бұрын
I think I used size 7s and worsted weight yarn, but it's been a while since I did this. I will update the description so it links to the pattern. I love doing duplicate stitch, and it works the same on whatever weight of yarn you knit your stockinette.

Is there a way to do this with perl stitches?
@PattymacMakes Жыл бұрын
No, you have to do this on Stockinette fabric with is all knit stitches on one side and purl on the reverse. But great question!
