Great video, thanks. I have a manual wall on off paddle to start and turn off the fire. If I hook the wires up the way you did, the wall paddle will get out of sync with the Wi-Fi control box. How do you propose doing this? And it's not just a normal wall paddle, but a special one that has low voltage circuitry.

So what happens if you lose power in your home. Millivolt switch will still power on the gas even if the home loses power, but since this device is connected to the home power source, I assume you would have to has backup battery/power...if your WIFI is down, is the thermostat temp saved on the unit itself?

I have a fireplace switch and a knob for the blower. what are your thoughts on being able to control the blower with Alexa?
@mattadata22 жыл бұрын
I think it can do it. Just put a smart plug on your blower and control it with Alexa.

@@mattadata2 What about controlling the intensity of the blower like the knob switch does?
@mattadata22 жыл бұрын
@@qpinvest It won't do that. I can't think of a good way to accomplish that.

Can you simply set it for a temperature, say 67F without a time limit? And can you increase / decrease that temp setting from anywhere (wifi/internet) using the app?

Yes and yes. 😀

Does the control box have a battery inside for operation during a power failure? I see that it's powered by a USB cable, but is the USB cable keeping internal batteries topped up or is it only going to work when there's 120v wall powering the USB block to USB wire?

No battery backup. It needs to be plugged it. 😢

@@mattadata2 Thx for the fast reply! What if I had a USB battery bank in the middle, to power the SH3002 module during a power failure? Obviously, if the WiFi equipment in the home is not on a battery backup, we would not be able to monitor the house temp or gas stove settings remotely, but I would think the thermostat in the SH3002 module would still work to control the stove during a power failure until the battery in the USB battery bank is depleted. So: 120v wall outlet with USB wall block running USB-A cord to USB-micro input on USB battery bank, then the SH3002 unit would be plugged into the USB-A outlet on the battery bank to power the SH3002 unit. It would be running off the battery all the time and the battery would be getting it's power from the wall plug. I imagine it might wear out the battery bank over time in this setup, but at least it would work during a power failure to keep pipes in the house from freezing during a long winter storm with power outage. USB Battery banks are pretty cheap to replace over time if necessary and it would give more peace of mind in winter as this gas stove is in a second home about an hour from our primary residence.

Yep, you could do that. Its basically an UPS for your fireplace. Grab two of these and you would be set amzn.to/3wJfYp0 One for your Wifi/Router. One for your fireplace. I have a similar UPS on my Wifi/Router. It helps a ton when power goes out only for a few minutes so I don't loose any work .....but I can go 18 hours.

A backup plan is to use a power bank to power the control box, but i guess you can only manual switch on if the wifi router is also down...

Hi Matt, do you know if more than one person can access the thermostat settings via app? i.e. We rent our second home out to friends for portions of the year and want to be able to give them access to the App so they can set the thermostat on the propane stove (which we use as a backup since our regular main furnace will not operate during a power failure). Perhaps we can share our App login info with them so they can access it separately. We have been able to share access to our Nest account by giving them guest access, but it would be helpful to know if they can also access thermostat for the propane stove (backup heat source for power failure incidents). Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I don’t know for sure. But I would guess that you can do that.
