Duramax Fuel Rail Pressure Relief Plug Install (the easy way)

Easy way to loosen the pressure relief valve without stripping the head of the valve. I was having a very hard time trying to pry loose the valve without stripping it and this method worked on the first try.
Pressure relief valve plugs are a must for people having issues with low rail pressure codes and/or limp mode. If you’re towing heavy loads and have this issue, I would highly recommend a “race” plug.
In addition, I installed a ported fuel rail fitting on the driver’s side rail. The stock fitting has a tiny pin hole and puts unnecessary stress on the cp3 and can restrict fuel flow.
I also have a raptor 100 lift pump installed with efilive and a 5” exhaust

Brilliant!…I was getting nowhere fast until I saw your solution. I purchased the following ratcheting 18 mm wrench from Amazon, but I struggled to put enough force on it despite its length and mechanical advantage. After viewing your video I gave it another shot. This time I wedged a spacer between the wrench and the adjacent bracket to prevent the ratchet from coming off. After ratcheting the strap slowly about 5 times, the pressure relief plug broke loose! If you are still losing rail pressure with the relief valve blocked off, you likely are sucking air into the fuel system from somewhere. The Duramax doesn’t have a lift pump from the factory, so I highly recommend installing one.

I hit mine with a brass hammer over and over and over until it finally broke free. Installed the new one the same way. Bumped it with a hammer a few times to get it really snug.

Instead of a ratchet straps, hit the end of the wrench with a hammer in the direction to loosen. The shock will free it with ease, the same way an impact gun would.
