I enjoy your videos and I also have a 2019 gmc sierra 3500 with the L5P, I only use it for towing my 5th wheel camper & long trips, I don't really use it as a daily driver cause I find it regens more. I have learned what I may have to deal with in the future by watching your channel. I used to haul cars & had a 10 car carrier so I know about how much it sucks when you have issues on the road. Not sure if it helps. But i do remove both my nox and last one clean them with carb cleaner in my semi truck every other year 250,000 miles or so. Have not replaced a sensor in 675,000 miles now... also clean my dpf filter with hydro chloride. To clean soot use Muratic acid to clean ash. 1,100,000 miles with my original dpf filter. There are videos of using this method. And thanks for your video be safe master your journey.

Recently got this code on my ‘19 at just over 40k miles. Position 1 is upstream correct? Service manager told me it was behind the turbo. Quoted me 1k for sensor and labor. Rather do it myself. Appreciate the how-to 👍🏽

Thanks for the great video. Getting ready to do this job on my Colorado Duramax. Do I need to put any sealant or thread lock on the sensor when putting it in? From some of the comments about ant-seaze on the threads, I'm guessing not. Did you just tighten the sensor and the bolts to the module without applying anything on the threads? Just want to make sure I have all I need before I take things apart and can't drive to the parts store.

Changed out the upstream sensor about a month ago and engine light went off a few days later. Now this past weekend the light comes back on with same P02EE code and U029D code which says Nox sensor lost connection senor A. Wonder if a new connector needs to be installed?

Was your truck blowing any black smoke with that sensor bad that was the first code that popped up on mine and then it went to mass air flow sensor cleaner and now my truck is blowing black smoke and it is not deleted

Great video, how did you get the code to display on your radio screen?

It's from the autosync. It's a box that plugs into the obd2 port that opens up all kinds of factory options. The gauges on the screen, turn signal camera, rear camera while driving, strobe lights, cargo lights in drive, forced regen and lots of other stuff. I'm not affiliated but a very happy customer. They're is a Facebook *autosync discussion group* that talks a lot about the features and options

P249D. 2018 Duramax diesel Allison transmission dually 138k miles. Do I have to delete the truck to get rid of this code? I tried erasing but is consistent code keeps coming back

I had the P249D come and go on mine. I noticed most of the time it would come up if i had fueled at different places than normal. After i would fill up again at one of my usual places it would stay gone until i bought fuel somewhere i didn't usually buy from again.

I had p249d come up this morning when I started it up. Had p20ee come up a couple weeks ago and a couple people said that was a bad nox sensor downstream going to the dealership next Monday to get that changed. Could the p249d be some bad fuel or something else. I’m new to the diesel stuff and any help would be great.

I have the autosync from bt dieseworks. It let's me read/ clear codes, cargo and mirror lights while in drive, strobe lights, powertrain data on screen, turn signal camera... all kinds of stuff.

I figured after tuning nox wouldn't be an issue. I've heard if i do mine i have to get nox plugs to fool the ecm but t I've not touched a deleted truck yet

Have you had to do the position 2 sensor yet? If so what tools where needed other than the sensor socket?

Just the 10mm bolts that held the module to the frame and a pull handle with a swivel head to break it loose and that's about it. Kind of a pain to get at but not too bad

I didn't , it was pretty much plug and play. It did take a few cycles of the ignition to go away completely. If it gets bad enough it reduces power you will have to do a forced regen( that was my experience the second time it happened. I have replaced this sensor 2 times in 500k miles)

@@CFarmer thanks for the response !yeah mine is in low power mode, code won’t go away new parts in but when I go to reset the nox1 on the autel 808 it doesn’t do anything can’t get a reading off the new one . Kinda banging my head on the wall.

I cannot get mine off. Using the same setup with only a 12” cheater. The engine is hot so i will let it cool and try later. Why is it so tight??

I was amazed mine came loose as well as it did. The heat from the exaust can cause it to bond. It should still come loose. After it cools If you have PB blaster or sea foam deep creep I'd soak it and let it sit for a bit then give it a try.

Wondering if anyone has found a difference in NOx sensor removal between a cold vs. a hot engine? I would have to think that a hot surface would expand slightly, making removal (initially) a small bit easier. Thoughts?

Depends how long the sensor was in. I've had hot removals that took the threads of the bung with them. Not fun.

Honestly i don't, do you have a link to it so i can look? Also when i did this the codes cleared on their own. As soon as i started both trucks the codes were gone before i could try to clear them. Also in my truck i have autosync and it reads codes right off on my touchscreen in the truck and clears codes so when i did mine i used it
