Eddie love the videos. Just some advice, if you want your truck to last 300000 miles try keeping your EGT’s around 1250 brother. 1400 is scary territory brother. I’m a fellow Glamis duner and a heavy tower. I tow a 17000lb toyhauler with a 2004 6.0 w/160000 on her. A lot of people will talk crap about the 6.0, I personally have a had zero issues and I tow thousands of miles a year Glamis included. I’ve been around diesels for a minute and haven’t really noticed anyone talking about your high EGT’s, just a concern. God bless.

thanks for the info brotha
@erikambis83135 жыл бұрын
Yes Eddie he’s right and I had to chime in on this as well. Keep the egt’s below 1300. You can dabble in the 1300 range but not for long periods of time. When the truck is in a lower gear the egt will drop down lower, but in turn your transmission temp might come up a lil which is fine

This video is a great ad for Cummins. Socks with sliders? That's totally a Ford move.
@starkgary6 жыл бұрын
A big part of truck choice comes down to intended purpose. In this case, you're using the truck as a tow rig with minimal off road use. The Chevy/GMC option makes perfect sense as they have a much nicer on-road ride. If the intended use is going to cause the IFS to be a weak link and a solid axle now becomes a real advantage, Ford or Ram would make more sense. None are a bad choice as they all have their place.

Your truck definitely did better than the ford but before the re-gear obviously not also if the ford had 3:42 and your truck had 3:73 then you still gotta consider that the ford had more load and still out performed. I will say it's fair though because that's the way someone will buy that truck and you gotta see how it pulls with that standard set up. Will be interesting when you pull with that 2500 Cummins with the 3:42s also. But awesome videos man 👌🏻 good data here people need this

The only thing I didn’t like Eddie is you didn’t pull it in manual mode like the 250 I think you need to redo the test in drive and tow haul in all the trucks and not do one way and another one a different way just my thoughts keep up the good content!
@EddieLife35006 жыл бұрын
i did not put it in manual because my truck shifted for me to 5th gear and the ford i put in manual mode because it would not get out of 4th so i was curious how it would pull in 5th

Brian Iwaniuk yep I'm still waiting for the GMC's Torture Test yea cool that it shifted on its own but I didn't c it getting floored locked in 5th gear or clip of exhaust or complete climb video was cut b4 truck made it to top of hill 🤔
@300under226 жыл бұрын
I think to make it fare on all trucks you test just put it in drive and tow haul mode that way no one can say you were manipulating the drive by putting it in manual and shifting it your self that’s my opinion.

But please after the gears are broken in redo the test so you don’t burn out a pinion or carrier bearing and you can push it hard

You can’t use a ram 2500 because they are Detuned, you Need a 3500 Single rear wheel because those have the high output Cummins
@flightfanatic16 жыл бұрын
No, only the aisin equipped single rear wheel or duallies have the high outputs.
@scottback30206 жыл бұрын
Which I believe is what he meant. You have to get a 3500 to get the high output and aisin.
@rickdykstra45186 жыл бұрын
Great videos. Was looking forward to your results. Too bad you couldn't find a Ram 3500 SRW with the Aisin. Moving down to the 2500 you'll drop to a lower horsepower and Torque. But, still great experiment to find out how your truck is doing!
@flightfanatic16 жыл бұрын
Rick Dykstra i would also like to see how the aisin would compare, i own one and towed with it and i never saw trans temp go above 165. It stays consistent wether empty or full. Eddie if you could find a high output (aisin equipped) cummins that would be more fair for the ram as it is the full tune truck. Sadly every single 68rfe ram is detuned :( wich is all the 2500s and some 3500s

You definitely geared it for towing with 4.56 gears But the ford still has the stock gears 3.55 Huge ratio difference the ram’s cumins being an inline 6 is more designed for towing over a v8 Should have tested them before the gear swap for a fair comparison of what oversize tires do to towing Gm’s come with a 32.5” tire whereas ram and ford have around 34.2” stock tire size and the 37’s definitely affect the gm’s more on stock gear ratios due to tire size difference your gears should allow a set of 40” tires and still have good power
