Thanks for this video. I think it's the best Transgo kit video out there. Especially the valve body to housing bolt chart, showing removal of only the bolts you need to, and showing which one to leave. Best only to disassembly what you have to in this case. Really gave me the confidence to proceed with this job. And cautioning about the shift pin. All excellent details. Also like the way you kept the bolts in valve body when you separated it. I'm gonna try to do that too.

I'm constantly having flare ups with 1 to 2 shifts and I have a stock trans with a few different tunes when in anything but stock tune and even in stock mode sometime I get these. I plan on putting my kit in this spring and hope it will let me get by with the stock trans for a couple more years...built trans are not cheap even when building them yourself.

@Rustbelt Mechanic , I am having the col temp only Sticking E Shift valve throwing the P0766 code for Solenoid B, once warmed up, it goes away and good all summer, notice it most when the truck sits all winter, then in spring I fight it to loosen up. Will the Transgo Jr SK kit help me with this and the springs? Or does the E Valve bore need a little massaging? thanks!

lol i got this kit and the 2 filters plus a low profile filterlock and fluid and an airdogs 4GII 165gph lift pump delivered the other day and im planning on doing both of them today. I got my dads old 06 lbz duramax that my mom drove for years after he passed but the running board started sagging due to rust from minnesota winters so she didnt want to drive it anymore and gave it to me. I have fixed up the suspension and things she didnt do she mainly just changed fluids and filters put in a nice sound system and started adding power with a tuner, ppe airbox mod, 3inch mbrp downpipe and 5 inch downpipe back exhaust and plan on doing up pipes and y bridge and eventually rebuilding trans and installing a different turbo etc but even at the power im pushing right now i get low frp code if i go wot which i havent done much because i wanted the extra saftey from the transgo jr but even so i was driving back from a cross state trip and passed a large RV and a car on a long clear stretch of road and got up to 112 and let off the gas and saw the check engine indicator light on my dash. I can't wait to give one of my friends a ride again he was shocked with how quick the truck was with just the tuner and the airbox mod in the past week i added the turbo back exhaust stuff plus transgo and lift pump plus the trans relearn so im sure he is going to lose it lol the first ride he was trying to grab at the dash hand bar but was stuck in his seat. I have mainly driven pretty calm when i started running other than stock tunes but like my highest tune i run ends up giving me +6mpg or so if not a little more as long as im decent on the pedal and it has all the power i need to accelerate at a decent rate just using a little throttle so that works. I even got over 24mpg driving 65-75 mph range durring a ~250 mile drive including passing a couple of vehicles.

You got the trim valves backwards. The "plunger things" are called accumulators

Great video except you guys messed up the install of the valves you put ridged one in B when it’s supposed to go into A per the instructions from the manufacturer. I had to quadruple check mine after you said the mix up.

Nice vid,but you said B trim valve gets the plunger with the rib or (ridge) but directions says A gets the ribbed one and B has no rib ,you put it backwards

Rustbelt Mechanic i took it to someone and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I drove it this morning and had no issues drove it again later then it wouldn't shift but didn't have a check engine light or codes.

How long did it take you before the shifts were smooth? I did a quick relearn using a snap-on scanner and I've put roughly 500 miles on it. It shifts very smooth in every single gear except 1-2 , there is still a pretty hard kick from a stoplight. It also bangs into reverse from park. Did you experience similar driveability issues? I'm thinking about tearing it back apart if it dosent smooth out in the next 200 miles or so.

How many quarts of fluid did you turn around and put back in it? I just did a trans jr on my 6 speed, trans lines, and a trans cooler, and through it all back together, put 8 quarts in it, fired it up and went to back out of my driveway to go on a relearn and i had no reverse. I have drive and all other manual forward gears but zero reverse. Drained the fkuid and tore it all back down to check all my connections and everything was plugged in where it should be and all were good and secure with no loose connections. So i pulled the valve body again to triple check none of the check balls fell out and sure enough neither of them were laying in the valve body they are both still inside the new valves with the small spring in front of it and the big spring over it. Im lost on what the issue could be. Like i dont see how it could be low on fluid if it goes into drive but literally juat flashes when put in reverse. I had a check engine light that i didnt have before the install but i couldnt run the code because i couldnt back the truck up to take it to town. Do either the A or B solenoid run specifically reverse? Or what lol i honestly dont know what im missing

I don’t think it would be a fluid issue, did you mix the two solenoids up? Valve body torqued down EXACTLY right?

@@RustbeltMechanic no orange solenoid is B and the black was A. And yea torqued them down to 9 ft pounds using my inch pounds which converts to 108 inch pounds and i set it to 110 inch pounds. I was told by someone on the lbs page thst if i changed my fluid and internal filter as well as pulling the valve body and doung trans lines and a trans cooler i should use like 13 quarts. Do u think this is true? I only put 8 in to get started but when i was cycling the gears before i checked the fluid to add more is when i had all forward gears but reverse felt like neutral and just flashed on the shifter column. I figured if the fluid was low or especislly thst low if it needs 13 quarts why would it drop straight into drop without any slip or hesitation but have zero reverse
