Preach it Taira! John Taylor's bass guitar WAS the lead guitar in many of their songs. Andy Taylor was great in his own right, his haunting and beautiful guitar sound on this song alone is very distinctive. but the backbone of their songs was John Taylor. My FAVORITE bass player of all time... nobody is even close to him.

They were played non stop on the radio in the early/mid 80s. Then they weren't. Then they came out with what (imo) is one of the best songs ever in the 90s - Ordinary World.

@@echopryme But I and most of the people I know were there in the 80s; we don't watch documentaries about it, we lived it. And I can assure you DD weren't 'underrated', given that they shifted millions of records and spent at least half the decade in the charts (certainly in the UK, and presumably in a huge number of other countries). They happen not to have been my thing at the time - I was into post punk - but I didn't 'underrate' them, I could see they were great at what they did. I've noticed that for EVERY 80s video I've watched on KZbin, people have commented that the band are the most underrated. By definition they can't ALL be the most underrated! It's getting boringly predictable that someone will say it, and is fundamentally meaningless because it's said so often.

@@clairenoon4070 Thats cool... but have they made the "Hall of Fame" yet?! When you ask 'serious' musicians about Duran Duran, do they praise the shit out of the music they made?! @@echopryme Which Hall of Fame? There are hundreds! The UK Music Hall of Fame? Let's assume, though, that you mean the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio (how very US-centric that we're to assume it!) - the idea that to be inducted into it is 'evidence' of greatness is touchingly naive. I'm afraid the institution itself is grossly US-centric; nominating mostly US artists, and wherever US artists are nominated, artists of any other nationality will be overlooked. The fact that Kate Bush is still not in the R & R Hall of Fame tells me everything I need to know about it! Do try to stop thinking it matters or is somehow relevant. Nobody outside the US does.

You're right, John Taylor is a great bassist! Bass Player magazine awarded Taylor their LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD this past December (2020)! To hear more of his excellent playing and bass lines, you should listen to the Extended Versions of Duran Duran songs made for dance clubs. Not only is the bass prevalent even more but the overall arrangements of these songs are phenomenal. I'd suggest your next Duran Duran reaction be an extended version of one/all of the following: Is There Something I Should Know? (Monster Mix); Girls On Film (Night Version); Girls On Film (Night Mix); Planet Earth (Night Version); Planet Earth (Night Mix); My Own Way (Night Version); New Religion (Night Version); Union of the Snake (The Monkey Mix); New Moon on Monday (Dance Mix); Hold Back the Rain (Alternate Remix) and/or Hungry Like The Wolf (Night Version)- all Gems! You can get more of Duran Duran's musicianship this way. Enjoy your reactions as always. Cheers!

Duran Duran set the bar for music videos. As they progressed, the videos became mini movies, were set in exotic locations. They were very much known for the visuals along with the music.

Ahhhh yeaaaaah! I loved them sooooo much despite my pale face dressed in all black Doc Marten wearing hard core new waver looking self 😂😂😂😂 John Taylor is still dreamy! It bothered me so much although I just said that that people focussed on their looks and didn't take into account the fantastic musicianship that went into each and every song. There's still one of my favourite bands and I never get sick of hearing their music!

John Taylor is one of the finest bass players around. Amazing he only picked up a bass a couple years before their first album came out. His syncopated bass lines are fire…..Also, Simon LeBon is an incredible lyricist. Amazing.

Hey Jay! One of my favorite group from the 80s! "Hungry like the wolf " and "Rio" are a couple of their hits that you would like. They came out with an album recently and I must say they still sound amazing after all these years 😍

John Taylor's bass playing is good, but it is the guitar riff that Andy Taylor is playing that makes this a great song. This is my favorite Duran Duran song.

😍🥰 Duran Duran. Simon Leon is the lead singer has a very unique voice. Growing up in the 80's listening to their music was the best. 40 years and still going strong. John Taylor the bass goat. Voted #1 greatest bass player of all time. 2022 nominees to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Any video you review is appreciated. Their videos are different an always amaze. The video kings.
