Wife and I rode it all the way to Silverton 20 years ago, and we were exhausted at the end (we were in our 50's then). I think you made the right decision, because the shorter trip seems to cover enough of the scenic parts to make it worthwhile. Thanks for sharing your trip.

Hello...we are planning to book tickets for this winter train....have one query... which side's seat is best for the view? left or right?

so it goes back and forth. so one way you'll be on one side and the other you'll be on the other! on the way there the right side is better and the way back is the left
