This is your best work mate. If you just focus on these bunch ride commentary videos you will massively increase your consistent viewership and subscribers! Because they are FUN to watch and imo get people motivated and into cycling more than anything else. My favorite video of yours is still a fast Norton summit commentary video from a few years ago. You could even mention the Strava time of the particular day and also the KOM time to give people a reference for the sort of pace etc.

Wearing no gloves seems like a great idea until you crash and rip your palms open. Learnt that lesson a long time ago!
@MrRammell5 жыл бұрын
Don't crash :D I can't stand gloves. I've tried a bunch - thinking that they'd be good in a crash situation, but on longer rides they just rub, make your hands sweat and annoy me when holding a bottle.
@WalrusRiderEntertainment5 жыл бұрын
Nah they absorb road shock too
@joshharvey36545 жыл бұрын
For me gloves are just uncomfortable, it’s not like you’re going to wear some knee pads in case of a crash.
@jdslfc5 жыл бұрын
From personal experience, your palms will mostly be ok, but it is your knuckles that would be very grateful for the protection. If you land hard enough as to put your palm skin in real trouble, your wrist would be the real concern.
@manilafixedgear23125 жыл бұрын
@@jdslfc Cycling gloves will do nothing for knuckle protection, modern gloves are basically just thin lycra on the back. For over a decade I worked in the motorcycle safety clothing design trade and can tell you even denim only has a second or so of abrasion resistance at 30mph, Lycra will have almost zero at anything above walking pace. Look how torn up a bib short is after a minor spill going into a tight corner and most gloves are thinner than that.

One thing I've noticed over the last 10yrs is that more and more people won't be seen dead out on a ride unless they're in super expensive kit and on top of the line bikes.
@wigleboy5 жыл бұрын
So true, especially on KZbin. Here in N Vancouver it seems fitness and bike before accessories before kit.
@manilafixedgear23125 жыл бұрын
The flip side is as riding has exploded in popularity the last decade and with people riding more even with the indoor option of Zwift I would say it is also people "investing" in decent kit. Whilst you certainly do not need high priced garments to enjoy a ride, having quality Bib shorts and fitting clothing certainly is desirable. I would say certainly a lot of cycle clothing is way over priced but then the justification is how much wear can said garment give you. I tend to wear Rapha Core bib shorts that retail in the UK for about 100 quid, they offer a superb fit that decreases my chances of saddle sores which I am prone to and then that allows me to cycle more plus they are all black. They last about 5-8 thousand miles and I have 3 pairs in rotation. Apart from shoes they are the only part of my cycle kit that has to be replaced often, my Rapha jerseys still look great after 10's of thousands of miles and I guess my whole cycling wardrobe owes me about 600 quid, which I think is acceptable. If you know of a cheaper alternative that offers similar wear and a quality pad please let me know who does it?, I have purchased cheap Chinese stuff previously and I was left with a sore ass and restricted fit..

Your flying Harley, good advice also 👍 I’d love to hear your thoughts on drugs like citalopram and their effects as in weight gain. I’ve been on them for just over a year and tried to cold turkey a couple of times but withdrawals were quite rough. Halved dose last week and hope to rid of this crap. Really enjoying your vids and a few zwift sessions with the goal of dropping from 90kg back to 80 over the coming months 😀

This is the type of video that attracted me to your channel originally, Harley. Please keep making stuff like this. Also, how could you tell that the Basso was a Chinese knockoff? Completely agree about wearing gloves. Was once riding through a park and a dog chasing a ball took the bike from under me. I hit the ground but was able to protect my self with my palms - I was wearing gloves so barely felt a thing.

Harley, I really like your cycling videos with all the tips and advice. I really like the tips in this video. I was wondering if you could ever do videos on how to sprint in cycling. I am a bigger guy 6’2 280. Your videos are helping lose weight and I am doing it on the bike. I love it. I live in Colorado USA and bought bike rollers to ride when there is snow on the ground. No matter the weather I ride my bike outside just as long as the roads are dry. I have 4 kids and don’t have a lot of time to ride long distances. I was wondering if you have had success doing sprint interval training on your bike. I like a block away from my work. It would be awesome if you could do a video on how you do sprint invernal training on your bike. I assume doing sprint intervals on your bike would build muscle and as a result raise metabolism? Thanks for all you do!
