Have you tried a Sievert DW 3000? It is a hot air gun that claims to hot 1110C. Since it is a plugin, I would think it could be a solution to not worrying about gas levels, when melting into a crucible.

You should consider the available surface feet per minute that only the larger units can deliver. Smaller units don't stack up.

Jewelers just don’t need that kind of horsepower. Use the small foredoom double spindle”lathe”, or perhaps the knock-off version from Harbor Freight.

The Foredom is OK but it does not have the capacity for larger mops nor the horsepower as it slows when pressure is applied. But it’s a great motor to start off with

Larger motors heat up less and last longer. I have foredom lath, Dremels, foredom pendant, and two large units. I prefer the larger units to the others . It's worked for 50 Years.
