To my eternal shame - I was 16 in 1981, lived in Macclesfield and it took me nearly 40 year to get into Durutti Column

@@TomNeedler I'm almost 60. The haunting and beautiful music of the Durutti Column which I have followed for 40 years will go with me when I leave this world. Wonderful music.

hey, all the better that you discovered them after all. I'm sure you didn't discover your decent music taste yesterday and spent the years well

Vini's guitar and mitchells drums still mystical as there studio recordings
Love how most people there don't seem that impressed but the one guy at the bottom left at 13:30 is really into it.

Buy the LC durutti column just re-mastered from benelux. Just received it, and is incredible double play with 7 inch. No disappointment here. Buy buy buy…..!!!
What a pleasure to hear Vini sing his tribute to Ian Curtis: There was a boy I almost knew him A glance exchanged Made me feel good Leaving some signs Now a legend The dream was wrought Where thoughts were heard Love is reserved From previous times [chorus] Like a dead bird in the dirt Like a rusty can on the ground I don't believe in stardom Machinery in action Full of experts Full of experts Same old order Same old order Same old order Watch with obsession Some accident of beauty Try to capture As the light begins to fail Shapes to compose Shadows of frailty The dream is better Dissolves into softness But the end The end is always the same [chorus] There was a boy I almost knew him A glance exchanged Made me feel good Leaving some signs Now a legend
It’s a late 1970’s Gibson Les Paul Custom (which throughout this era were fitted with Humbucking pickups) in a red-pink sunburst finish, with gold plated hardware. Looks great and sounds just wonderful in Vini Reilly’s hands. And it looks like he’s playing it through a Roland SRE-555 Space Echo into a Fender Twin Reverb amplifier. Fabulous band and music, also thanks to Bruce Mitchell on the drums. Great footage, too.
