Vast improvement of waltz. They have discovered the vital importance of calmness, and the bit hesitant movement of waltz. Waltz is the finest dance in the universe, and they deliver a BEAUTIFUL, CALM and MUSICAL waltz They have softer feet, pausing a bit end of 3 to mark the end of bar. They are relaxed, as a swan gliding on a lake. This waltz, with beautiful music, is a pleasure.

I think the weakest dance is quickstep. It is too hectic, not relaxed, too much breaking the rule of always placing your foot UNDER the weight of the body. Marcus Hilton was a master in this. Szymon Kalinovski video channel just now published a fantastic video honor dance quickstep by Arunas and Katusha, showing exactly this in a perfect way. Please Dusan and Valeria, see it. See also Peter Eggleton and Brenda Windslade´s fantastic quickstep show on Gene Sharp channel, and Bill and Bobbie Irvine on Dominic Soales´channel. There both the Irvines and Eggleton/Windslade compete in quickstep in solos. Light, easy, relaxed. In the quickstep, but also in other dances, Dusan is raising his left arm often and is not comfortable with his top line. He is also having too many change of directions, making it strenuous, instead of perfectly light and easy.

Love the waltz’s beautiful and smooth sway actions. Love the tango’s staccato and passion. For VW, Foxtrot and quickstep, I personally like them to be a bit flatter than waltz. Especially the VW’s sway action is a bit much to my preference, and I didn’t notice as much sway in their previous competitions. Foxtrot i still like Sinkindon/Loraine as the base, and put in some bigger sways here and there to spice it up a bit, to accommodate today’s trend. But big sways all the time make the big shapes less standing out.

I deeply admire their foxtrot, and the classical timing and technique. I think foxtrot is their very best dance, their signature dance. It is of vital importance that they don't adopt the misguided Sinkinsen approach, and his heavy backward leaning Feather step with stoppage on 2, instead of easy flight quick-quick on 2-3. For 10 years Arunas and Katusha became world champions with their signature dance, the foxtrot. They danced the opposite of Sinkinsen´s idea.

@@helgechristophersen7665 I’m also not a fan of the way feather step was danced. But I think that’s more of how Sinkindon did it later in his career? For example this was a very nice foxtrot of him that I liked: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bILcqYCne6xraJo Arunas and Katusha’s foxtrot is fantastic. I just think the bigger sways sometimes take away a bit the easygoing air of foxtrot. But just my preference.

I guess another side of me also don’t want to see: bigger shape = better or more exciting dancing. They can maneuver the shape well, but many can’t. I hope the world can see more moderate shape and moderate size of steps can still produce beautiful dancing.

Concerning Sinkinsen, I refer to his later teaching. The 1991 foxtrot you refer to, is indeed deeply beautiful and smooth. Yet, it is a bit unnatural timing. A bit forced back. But in the last part of the video, he suddenly becomes completely free and into the music, even spontaneous into the music. If you see Arunas and Katusha´fantastic teaching videos at Blackpool Spanish Hall (you find it on Arunas and Katusha on internet, it used to be close to the top on their name), you see a blessing of free movement, right into the timing of foxtrot. As Bill Irvine said: "The desire to get the music in the movement". Movement is expression of the music. Exactly the music.
