You made a awesome work in a 13" notebook with a $70 tablet. It's the proof that the tools really doesn't matter. You and your work are a huge inspiration to me (:

This is so incredible! You definitely know how to paint clouds! And very impressive that you made these on a small laptop. But that again proves, that as an artist you do not need the best equipment or coolest brushes. All you need is some mad skill. I am glad you shared this! :)

Amazing video Noah! just wanted to let you know, since I dont know where else to contact you I was a student of your second artcamp when I was still pretty green in all this art thing, that and your lecture "the art of freelancing" were a huge influence on me and helped me make a living as an artist, along with a lot of your other tutorials and articles which shaped many of the ways I think about improvement, art and business. I mention this because soon I'll be doing art for magic, which has been my dream for a very long time, and you and the content you've made over the years played no small part of that development. So thanks for everything! you've been an inspiration and a great help to a lot of people like me All the best!

Just stunning pieces... i feel like I can reach out & touch the clouds, I love dawn, I used to train horses & there's nothing like a beautiful morning, taking the first horse out onto the track & seeing their breath mixed with sun rays...You bring that atmosphere alive here. ......interesting to see the process, pretty similar to how I work when illustrating for publishing house I do work for.

Noah, you are one of favorite magic artists! Your work is truly amazing. Thanks for giving us a peek at your process and mindset. I actually really liked the ruins you put in briefly, but I get why you didn't want them to detract from the focus. I just felt like these pieces evoke such grandness that something like the ruins help the viewers anchor themselves so we can be more interactive with the scene. But the end result is just stunning nonetheless! Great work and hope to see more great things from you. PS.- You are very charming and your voice is rather soothing. PPS- How much do you think about how the artwork looks on the card itself? Like in relation to size, scale, and surrounding colors?

it's crazy to think that old school animation did basically this (to a lesser degree) in EVERY frame. Now that translates over to CGI. Reading the other day about Avatar 1 out of it's like 60fps took HOURS. It's very woah lol check out Redline (just google image it) took 7 years to draw, it's an anime.

You mention on the website you use Kyle's brushes mostly now, I have the megapack and it can be a bit overwhelming figuring out which ones to use so thanks for pointing out that "oil canvas 2" brush. I have a question : would it not be better to have splitted cards framed with only one artwork but emphazing two effects ? Kinda like if _Geist Blast_ would have a _Aftermath_ mechanic. Like that, we could have a bigger artwork, and in this case of _Dusk / Dawn_ , something emphazing the Dusk > Night > Dawn cycle (kinda like _Temporal Extorsion_ ). Anyway, you definitely make great artworks here, don't get me wrong ;) ! But after many splitted, even flipped cards, I kinda think that a good artwork emphazing two effects would be more "powerfull" for players than 2 separated artworks so smaller. But I may be totally wrong, I dunno...

Damn... I have no idea how to do this :P I also absolytely cannot work on one ofthose non-screen tablets. I really need to work on the thing itself like touchscreen or Wacom Cintiq etc. If only i could get a 24 inch one, or even a 16. Not that i can afford those, but i have tried them. I also wouldn't do them justice. I should really somehow find the time and mostly the cash to do a good course for something like this. I am very much stuck in the paper era and just for myself, for fun, i completely lack any education or technique. That said, i am now doing some A4 sized cars and logos with alcohol markers. Selling them for just a bit extra, nothing major at all, in fact, if you looke at the time they take to do i'm undercharging really, let alone that i am already having to replace 2 markers. Ah well, gotta do something when you're out of a job and have zero usable education because medical issues killed those.

As an artist myself (of course of a lower caliber, but working my way up) I can tell you that there is something we call the 3 to 30 feet "rule", which is more of a guiding principle than a steadfast rule, as with anything in art. It's the reason he does those thumbnails. It basically means your work has to be readable from 3 feet and 30 feet away, which means it should work even when seen in a small scale as well as in all of it's up close glory. Though of course details are lost from afar or at small scales, most of us strive to nail the general broad concepts and communication, specially on illustration, and let the details be the icing on the cake. If it doesn't work in a general way, it doesn't work period. Personally, seeing my work printed *anywhere* is already a huge win, but I speak for myself, and Noah might have a very different outlook than myself.

Whats sad is that most artists now work with photoshop... MTG art looked so much better when they were drawn by any hand made technique like in original Innistrad or the water painting elves. They are soooo beautiful. Compare them to friggin sylva brightspear or pir and toothy. I know thats harder and way more time-consuming but thePC generated art really toom away quite a bit of the "magic" from magic

I feel like "Dusk" could have been better portrayed with a huge sun descending into the horizon. This is a destruction spell, it should feel like it's sweeping the land with it's sheer presence and then in "Dawn" the same ball of fire becomes a bringer of life, a beacon, a god. Not your fault, I just feel art direction could have been better on dusk. Still, beautiful work on both.
