Our trip to Vredenburg was a fantastic adventure. The drive there was filled with excitement as we first passed by the intriguing Langebaanweg Air Force Base, which, though inaccessible, offered a glimpse into its significance. Our next stop at the West Coast Fossil Park proved to be a captivating experience. Observing the ancient jaw bones with intact teeth of extinct animals was truly thrilling, making it hard to tear ourselves away. As we reached Vredenburg, we were welcomed by its charming atmosphere. We even think we found what we believe to be the original water source for the town dating back to 1875. All-in-all, our visit to Vredenburg left us with unforgettable memories and a sense of appreciation for this industrial hub. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #westerncape #vredenburg #westcoastfossilpark

Thanks for taking us to the Fossil Park. I saw it once in a video that "Itchy Boots" took on her motorbike travels and always wanted to go there. You might like to watch it too: "I can't believe they found THIS in South Africa!! [S5 - Eps. 29]"

Hi you two! This was really a very interesting trip again. Vredenburg town is clearly well on its way to become a west coast City. Unfortunately this can be seen in the walled up and fenced up properties. Beautiful place nevertheless, surrounded by flower fields, rock formations, water and flamingos. The visit to the Fossil Park was very interesting and informative, the more so because the work and research is done 'on site'. The trip was also special to me because it brought back memories of 5 decades ago when I was training to be a sailor at Saldanha. Thank you for another great trip. I'm ready to go on the next! Keep safe!

Vredenburg is almost all commercial and industrial as far as we could tell and surprisingly so. We never expected that and it was interesting to see all the industry going on there. The surrounding area is indeed very beautiful with diverse landscapes and so many of the things we love! 🌺⛰️ The Fossil Park was incredible and mostly so for the very reason you mentioned. I could see exactly where the fossils were found and still lie. That was amazing! I'm happy that we can take you back to an area you must've known well all those decades ago. 🚙😊

The fossils are really crazy. So interesting to learn from a young girl who knows her subject. So sad that irresponsible people destroy history! Flamingos were nice. Vredenburg is a real up and coming town. Thank you so much for this footage. Even though i have a satelite office in Saldanha i was not aware of the fossils. Till the next trip - seat already booked.

I found the fossils wildly interesting too, especially because I could see exactly where the fossils were found. That was amazing and Hesmari was so knowledgeable. 👌🏻 So you get to the West Coast often then, having an office in Saldanha. How lucky are you! 😁 I'm so glad you enjoyed this trip to the large West Coast town of Vredenburg! Be ready for the next one! 🚙🤩

Hi guys loved the drive in the big airforce base home of the silver falcons. The fossil Park was really a and the young lady guide was very good the short neck giraffe and the African bear related to the panda unbelievable! Loved the models made from driftwood!!! And to think it had its own station crazy langebaan station with all the train cars and the little house always home so quirky and then the flamingos only in SA. The area definitely had a busy and industrial vibe with lots of car dealerships plenty of different shops. The DRF church was well with nice grounds the old parsonage lovely colonial style with Victorian sash windows love the history the two farmers in dispute over the water supply Twistfontein to Vredenburg brilliant the whole place must be different when all the flowers are in bloom and I'm sure I've had glenrick pilchards before the huge rocks reminds your in Africa. Great video thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one. Just to say I've been watching the rugby and some of the games have been fantastic good luck to the Bokke against NZ

I was so hoping we could film a Silver Falcon, but we weren't allowed to. 🤷🏻‍♂️🛩️ The Fossil Park was a true revelation, I loved every moment! The short-necked giraffe and bear were incredibly fascinating. A bear in Africa! 😳 You know every station is always interesting to us, but it was unusual to see so many train cars at a defunct one. Vredenburg is a big, bustling town but fortunately surrounded by great natural beauty, those huge boulders were super impressive. Go Bokke! 🇿🇦🏉

Oh, I can only imagine how Vredenburg has changed over the years! It seems to be mostly an industrial and commercial town now, which surprised us somewhat. 😳 The Fossil Park belongs on your bucket list, you'll love it. It is super interesting! 🚙🦒

Beautiful clouds! I am fascinated by how the earth looked back in prehistoric times. When I was 1o years old I wanted to be paleontologist. Flamingoes are so pretty. My memories of Vredenburg go back to early 80s. My boyfriend had a dad who lived there, and we would go visit him. So I saw Vredenburg from the back of a Honda Goldwing. The history is so interesting. Looks like that spring has long ago run dry. Dont remember too much of Vredenburg, I guess I was focused on my boyfriend

And so you should've been! 🥰🏍️ We can't believe the things we never noticed before and merely drove past and now we find those same things wildly fascinating! We're just as fascinated with fossils and things, so my visit to the Fossil Park was really a highlight. 🚙🦒 We love seeing flamingoes and saw them quite often on this trip. Just love the legs bending backwards!

Your comment made me smile. In contrast to the house we saw next to the train lines, our house is called 'Almost Never Home'. 😁🏡 We're on the road as I type this and we happen to have a quieter Kwiddie this time around and we sometimes miss the creaking as we traverse uneven terrain. We're not all about smooth rides, actually quite the opposite! 🚙😍 The flamingoes were absolutely gorgeous and are such interesting birds as they stomp around looking for food. I wouldn't be too surprised if there were indeed a spiral staircase in that church tower. 💒

Hi .....Yes that use to be the railway station and the gravel road you were on is the area where the rail tracks were. The spring water fountain is about 150m from where the monument is. Travel safely.

Thank you so much for the confirmation of the station, it's good to know we were on the right track. Pity there weren't any more railway tracks visible, but we were happy to see that the station building had been refurbished. 🚉 I thought the fountain would be close to the monument, but didn't know exactly where to look. Appreciate the info! 🚙👌🏻

Hi to the 2 of you. I wonder when it comes to old buildings, would it not be a good idea to go to the town MUNICIPALITY?
@DustBugsTravel
@DustBugsTravel 8 ай бұрын
We enjoy exploring on our own and happening upon places that interest us. We do sometimes speak to locals we come across to find out about interesting places to visit. 🚙😁 I doubt whether anyone at the municipal offices would be able to point us to places we would find interesting and it would be way too time-consuming while we're already always on a very tight time schedule.
