This wasn’t a humbling he even said “closed mouths don’t get fed” saying if he doesn’t call anyone out, he’s not gonna get anywhere. He did great against Dustin and showed that he can hang with the big dogs of the lightweight division. For the first 2 rounds he was completely outclassing Dustin. Once Hooker improves his cardio, he’s gonna be a serious problem. Still just shows how good Dustin is to be able to come back and win.

I don't really think its a cardio issue, he is a high level kickboxer, he can strike all day. But Hooker expends too much energy when he is in grappling exchanges. He explodes out of stuff as opposed to using technique. I think that is what lost him this fight. He just needs more time on the mat. But he definitely showed that he has what it takes to hang with the best of the division for sure.

I love Hooker man, such a great heart, this was like his second 5 round fight and he was so close to knocking him out (#2 lightweight, it's crazy when you keep in mind that dustin fought khabib before this, almost submitted him and got the champ running around the cage) at the end of round 3 or whatever it was, dustin even said something like that he was hit pretty bad at that moment and had to collect his thoughts first for a sec. Hooker didn't get humbled in that fight, he was made a better fighter that night. edit: forgot to give ya credits for the great fucking video, much love and respect from Germany, keep em coming

Brian Stoner sorry I had an aneurism reading your reply but if you’re saying what I think you’re saying which is that the reason he commented is because Conor KO’d Dustin then you’re not understanding what I’m saying which is that you can’t compare Dustin now in his career to when he fought at featherweight and lost to Conor. He’s a much more polished fighter now and I think that if he and Conor rematched, Dustin would win

Also the fight was close but at the end of the day if this was a fight for your life and no time limits poirier wouldve won that fight thats why its so significant I believe. Hooker was desperate going for takedowns because he didnt wanna stand anymore with Dustin. And these newzealand guys are standup fighters not grapplers Same happened with felder but Hooker had more control in the felder fight and stole some rounds and won the fight

Not enough room to bump your hip out to cut the angle and create breaking pressure due to the fence position, plus it is hard to get an omoplata when you’re slippery

Or maybe he got tired because dustin was punching him? I know it’s an outlandish thought, but maybe , just maybe , he got tired because of dustin’s pace , therefore you should give dustin his due credit , just maybe

Not sure what else was said before the fight, but all of the clips in this video seemed very respectful. He never dissed Dustin, just said he thinks his style counters Dustins. And then he humbly said hes not the best fight for Dustin because hes not that big of a fighter yet. Seemed like all respect to me, yet confidence in himself.
