Triple H said once that one of the things the boys used to try to do back in the day was to try and make Undertaker break character because it was nigh-on impossible. I think he said that part of the reason The People's Elbow came into existence was because The Rock wanted to to make 'Taker laugh, basically.

@@faizhakimzain8339 in one interview he said before he actually aired as undertaker he sat down with Vince working out the game plan. Normally Vince is ultra controlling on any gimmick he creates. But Mark said they hit it off and Vince liked him enough from day one that he let him have almost full creative control over the Undertaker. Vince had sent a rough idea of what he wanted the costume to look like. Mark vetoed and changed some stuff Vince got called had Mark explain why. And told the woman over costuming that Mark knew what he was wanting and that he could make some alterations to the costume. No one else not even hogan had as much control over their character as undertaker did. But Mark said he also didn’t mess with that trust. He went to creative and Vince a lot about his ideas and polished them before running with his ideas.
