A couple of technical notes: - The "tail flaps" are called the elevator and rudder control surfaces - the "flaps" you refer to on the wings are called ailerons - the "curved up wing tips" are called winglets and they do provide a bit of a stability benefit, but more importantly and relevantly they increase efficiency by reducing wing tip vortices. The high pressure air under the wing "seeks out" the low pressure air on top, creating a vortex. This process creates a lot of drag. The winglet reduces or eliminates this. Thanks for the review!
@hamzaxArcueid45905 жыл бұрын
Something else you should know those winglets slow down the lose of fuel consumption of the aircraft but this is a rc airplane and yes everything else you said was right now tell me how much do you know about reverse thrust

As always I enjoy your reviews,they're entertaining and informative. I was thinking about getting one of these, I'm glad you reviewed it. By the way as an old school RC plane pilot it's fun watching you Quad guys refer to controls as pitch and yaw, and control surfaces as flaps. My heart sank when I started seeing the lights flash because I knew what was coming, but hey everyone crashes and our hobby is all about having fun. Look forward to see the flight with the larger battery.

Technically it's the magnetometer that gets funky when it's close to other electronics, but I guess the same goes for the GPS? That's why space probes have those ridiculously long boom arms that extend, keeps your compass nice and EM interference free... =p

home point is stored After you launch the plane? Mine is not binding anymore After a hard landing on the grass , I can't listen binding sound when I inizialize and so it's not arming. when I pull io throttle Stick propeller does not spin, However rudder,aileron and elevator work . For this reason I don't think that flight controller has a problem, furthemore Flight controller continue to light up , All Wires are connected and not broken, What Can be the solution to binding and arming? thanks
@DustinDunnill7 жыл бұрын
+Marco Ricca not sure exactly when home point is set but if it's like quads it's when the motor is armed. Your issue might be bad calibration. Can you see all telemetry on FPV? You get more than 6 GPS satellites?
@viperblck17 жыл бұрын
Dustin Dunnill I solved the binding problem, It was a wire in reverse. I had 10 satellites , It is possible that home point is stored After launching through anche accelorometer ?
@Corey-by1je7 жыл бұрын
Marco Ricca you are ment to wait 3mins or so for your rc and controller to pick up sats in your area, i believe you need at least 6/7 for RTH to work and its location is stored when you turn your controller on and it completes its gps search

I found the GPS to be really sort of hit and miss. Sometimes mine would RTH pretty well and sometimes it would just do circles off in the distance. If it's working correctly it will cross over home plate and then double back, sort of a figure 8. Another thing that I really didn't care for with mine was like you said, no telemetry in the video feed to goggles. If nothing else a battery alarm of some sort would be nice as you just found out on this video.
@oli.28447 жыл бұрын
Randall Huston Well, that's what you get with Hubsan. I own the h501s. The GPS and RTH IS a hit or miss. I wouldn't really recommend any Hubsan products. I'd say go with a Disco if you are looking into a fixed winged GPS RTH. And get a Phantom for a drone.
@DustinDunnill7 жыл бұрын
+OD786 Dro I think getting the compass Cal done right away from interference is really important on this one. The multiple times I activated RTH in this flight seemed fine. I'll have to closely monitor how the RTH behaves in the next few flights ✌

What upgrade did you do to bust that long distance? Thanks aging for your work and time and best wishes from Transylvania
@petermangold40037 жыл бұрын
In the world of aviation. The "wing flaps" you speak of are called "Ailerons". Wing flaps are something else altogether and are used for landing and flying at low speeds - they work together unlike the Ailerons which work in opposition. The "tail flaps" are known as "elevators". The vertical "tail flap" is known as a "rudder". The part you call "the craft" is usually known as the "fuselage". The smaller wing at the rear of the fuselage is known as a "tailplane" in the UK, or "stabiliser" in the US.

Interesting video, I was wanting to do something like this with an RC plane like 15 to 20 years ago but the remote camera and controller tech just wasn't up to the task back at that time, I did have the general idea though. I may have to buy something like this and make some mods to the plane and battery as you suggested in your video. Very interesting, thanks for sharing.

Hey Dustin nice video i was actually waiting for a full review on this Fpv plane, i have a question which plane do you prefer the Hubsan H301s or the Parrot disco?! which has better overall performance and technology? and how much flight time do you expect to get on the modded battery and how much flight time on the regular battery?
@DustinDunnill7 жыл бұрын
+Ya0Sa7eba0Zaman The Disco tech is leaps and bounds better but is also over 3x the cost. This is great for the price IMO. I think I put the time up at the end for the stock lipo. The bigger lipo should get almost twice that time.

An interesting review. I liked the on-board video, was impressed by the goggle fpv (they were just sitting on the edge of your box after all) and, as always, amused by the 'Oops moments' Being of a cautious nature (and a pretty rubbish flyer) I think I'd have descended in a spiral once the RTH brought it overhead or at least as soon as the range increased again. I think the design has weak points that would be no good for me with my ability to crash.but it looks like it will be fun for more experienced pilots.
@DustinDunnill7 жыл бұрын
+didactylos4 diddy4 I enjoyed it. The GPS really makes navigating home easy. Having all the telemetry on screen is also awesome. Just wish it would transmit the telemetry through the FPV so any screen or goggles used would see the OSD telemetry.

The OSD telemetry transmission is a traditional Hubsan fault which they don't seem inclined to rectify :(

Thanks for this review! I think I got a lemon! I got mine almost a year ago. I have always calibrated just like you. I live on the Oregon coast so its the same type of rural open area. When I flip into RTH it goes bonkers and totally out of control. It will dive and then shoot up and twist and turn at high angles. I can only barely guide it I to a higher location away from water and it crashes. Even flipping RTH off doesn't help. It also wants to dive after take off, so I have to quickly pitch up! I have tried yo adjust the servos and rod positions on the elevators but it doesn't seem to help as it crashes my range of movement to be diminished. Any ideas. Hubsan is not helpful! Also, if money is no concern, what would you recommend, this or the DISCO?
@DustinDunnill7 жыл бұрын
+Airwolf Sorry to hear. This one worked great. If money is no object then yes the Disco definitely unless you like the analog control and FPV. The Disco is purely digital extended wifi but unlimited auto missions are pretty amazing.

This is how long it took to get my R/C glow-plug engined plane trimmed, tuned, radio-checked, started and up in the air; 3hrs 25min (with the help of 3 experienced assistants). Flight time was 1min 20sec, digging the engine out of the hole it made in the ground after it's vertical dive took 3min. Time to recover and clean the dirt out of the engine & remove radio/servers from the wreckage and dispose of the broken air-frame was 35 min. Time to get back to my car to drive home was 10sec. Time to resolve never to do this again was 1sec.
