Rack-packing is underrated. It's an extra pound or two but so worth it for the ease of packing rear panniers and a front platform rack. Add fork and frame bottle cages and you're ready for the long haul in pretty much any part of the world. Riding slower means having fun longer.

I think they call it bikepacking because you spend most of your time packing and unpacking your bags. Two day overnighter sounds choice. Set up camp once and do a big unloaded ride day two. Hopefully your camp will still be there (unoccupied) when you get back to it... Loved the different music on all the cuts, soul version was my fav

Great video! And thanks for the plug:) One question; As I am considering what packing gear to rig onto my hardtail, I am wondering why most people are not opting to use rear racks. Is it because of weight? Regards, Syd
@EverythingsBeenDone4 жыл бұрын
The no rack things is mostly a trend. One functional thing with no racks is that they do well on bumpy terrain
@CrazyDiamond.critter4 жыл бұрын
@@EverythingsBeenDone Ahh, I see. Well, I will buck the trend and will likely up size my tires so that I can run lower pressure (not worried about speed). I can't seem to ride past water, fresh or salt, without casting a fishing pole, and a rack allows for easy pole mounts. Thanks for the reply.

Hi Dustin, having travelled thru' Washington State, Oregon and California in the early 70s, I've always wanted to return to cycle down the west coast with my wife sometime in a post-Covid future, from Vancouver and Vancouver Is. And your rides only whet my appetite even more! I will be candid tho', the thought of travelling thru' the USA makes me nervous because of the prevalence of guns. Are my concerns valid or unfounded. Many thanks, Loz from Down Under.
