@@seanparker5595 agree on that, goretex trail shoes are perfect for rainy days or if you like to go off the beaten track which often involves some hike a bike. Also a good breathable windbreaker works well on all but the most extreme weather days. I tend to opt for lightweight breathable and quick drying stuff which also packs down well and isn't cumbersome to carry.

I won’t ride on the road without my Varia radar. It’s that good. But, and this is important, you have to use it with a mirror or looking over your shoulder. Without being able to see behind you, the radar is just a countdown to a possible collision. The radar tells you when a car is coming, and how many. But a mirror tells you if they are giving you room.

Also, replace the snaps/buttons with ones that match the main material. You'll look amazingly great. You speak with conviction, a noble trait. Yet, you love this stuff. Add a smidgen of joy when presenting what you really like. Many presenters are so serious about being sincere. Yet, what the heck do I know, there's a 121K in subscribers. . Zefal (there are other brands with similar products) little round rearview mirror with rubber strap on the inside on the left drop bar, mid-drop, is better than a Varia. And it costs 10€, not 250. Anyone used to ride a motorcycle knows that a rearview mirror is the simplest, safest solution. A case where you don't need more technology. What has been working for over a century of two wheel riding is still the way to go. Cyclists just need to get over themselves regarding mirrors. I use mine everytime on my Giant TCR Advanced SL and haven't died of shame yet. Did a 203kms ride yesterday and that little mirror was as always an important part of my piece of mind on the road.

To me it makes a whole lot of sense to keep this tucked away in a saddle bag vs keeping a pump on the frame. It works fast too when you need it. It’s not like you need to keep charging it every week as well. But everyone has different priorities of course.

Is there a cordless handheld powerwasher worth buying. While cycling in Japan last year our tour organizer provided us with one to clean our bikes after wet rides. It had a battery and a plastic hose with a filter you dropped into 5 gallon bucket of water. It worked great but it was a no name brand written in Japanese. I see similar items online but they all have dodads and built in wands. I like the small size and the fact that you can get right up to the bike and direct the spray where you want it. What do you use? Is it small to store when you’re done cleaning up? Have you reviewed mini powerwaskers. Keep up the good work and oh yeah, Happy Thanksgiving. I am very grateful for your channel.

@ChlorophyllCrusherАй бұрын
I’m in eastern Canada, and ride outside tear-round, used to race cyclocross all fall. For that I bought a cordless jet washer, since they are often needed at races without proper pits. It was ok for that, but since I stopped racing in 2019 I’ve not needed it at all - hence forget the brand - since I’m always washing outside at home after rides. I recommend a very simple method that costs perhaps nothing to try for a while: bucket, hot water with dish soap, microfibre rag, maybe a gear brush or similar. Usually one bucket is all I need for a full wash, and it takes 5mins. If you use hot wax or a drip wax, you prob won’t have to do much to the chain beyond rinsing. For most folks there’s not going to be real benefit to a power washer, more likely just liability: driving water into bearings and grease out.
@SaftkeurАй бұрын
Not a powerwasher, but those hand-pump garden sprayers are super good for washing with. Come in various sizes, in cold weather I fill mine with hot water and a bit of soap right in the tank, then just spray the bike down. Just enough pressure to take off mud and stuff, but not strong enough to mess up your bearings and seals (which is the big danger with an actual powerwasher if you're not very careful where you point it).
@coldfootfunАй бұрын
@@ChlorophyllCrusher thanks for the input. I live in SouthCental Alaska and end up riding in rain or wet road spray for much of the 7 months I ride outside. A garden hose kind of works but it uses a lot of water. I do use a bucket with warm soapy water but there are lots of places that are hard to get clean. I do prefer to clean my drive train after each wet ride including chain, front and rear sprockets and cassette. This hand held we used last summer was very quick which equals more likely to clean bike every time it needs it. Since I’m in the lower 48 now I’ll check out the Ryobi at Home Depot while I’m here. Thank you for your feedback mate.

@owensnicholasАй бұрын
@@cyclonasaurusrex1525in my opinion, the radar is best used as an indicator of when to check my mirror. The radar does not tell you whether an approaching vehicle is giving you enough room. Without a mirror, it’s a countdown to a possible collision. But I also totally get the complaints about using it in urban areas. It drives me crazy when I’m in a city center. I’d rather it was turned off then.
@joaocastro924Ай бұрын
@@cyclonasaurusrex1525 The radar informs my decisions on the go. Easy example, you're riding in a quiet road where the road surface is not good and you want to be riding in the middle of the road (due to better surface quality) without annoying any other road user, the radar will tell you when to ride on the side of the road. Another one, you're riding normally, then you notice a vehicle approaching QUICKLY and there is incoming traffic on the other lane, there is a good chance the vehicle will pass you quickly and too close for your own safety, with the radar you can see this and take the middle of the lane to prevent such thing. For me it has proven itself by safekeeping me from impatient and rash drivers. Highly recommend it

Just tried TPU tubes for the first time. Absolute garbage. I’ll try another brand but the RideNow ones I tried both failed after the first ride. Not tough. No neither were pinch flats, one was a glancing blow from a staple - fine - but the other was the valve to tube connection failing.. I’m surprised you run tubeless but not a waxed chain.

@EverythingsBeenDone What's the brand of those metal panels and accompanying bins that you have on the wall? I would like to add these to the bike corner of my garage.

Ah I think I've found them. Look like they might be Akro-Mils?

Come on my man. I changed a ladies tire super quick with CO2 and kept the ride going relatively quickly. Jerking off on a pump sucks

How warm are those Vidda Pro pants? I am a warm running sweaty guy and I struggle to get the pants situations right when I'm hiking and riding. I'm often just running tights under the shorts.

I find them to be a middleweight pan not super hot not super warm with that said I did find two options for you This one is vented. I believe it's the same as the regular with vents.alnk.to/d3DlmsI In this one is out of the "G 1000 air material" which I don't have any personal experience with, but it seems like a lighter version of the regular, which sounds like something that would be a match for you: alnk.to/bitLyk0

I'll never understand the fear that cyclists have to wearing the little rear view mirrors on their helmets. $10-$15 and it does the job. I've never had the neighborhood kids line up pointing and laughing at me. Maybe it comes down to shorts that are too tight - "challenging" ones manhood . . .

I've been using a Takealookactive mirror for years. They are cheap at $25, made in USA and attach quickly to my glass's. They offer a big view behind me so I know what exactly is coming up behind me and they are priceless when navigating through several lanes of traffic. You acted as if you are two vain to use them. Just remember, most non cyclist think we look like dorks anyways.
