Alternative to melting metals. Small diameter lead bird shot (#10 or higher) mixed with 30 min epoxy works like a dream. Heat the mix up with a hot air gun and it's like pouring melted lead. No lead fumes, no smelting gear needed, the lead is encased in the epoxy and due to the small diameter of the bird shot, you can fill gaps (or weight pockets like in D.P.'s video) of down to 0.07 inches or even lower.

I don't know if I've just been under a rock or watching videos with my eyes closed, but the painters tape + glue & activator to hold down the piece for your CNC. . . Mind blown, nuff said. Awesome vid.

Holy crap! Freaking awesome! I have a super heavy duty one that pairs the packing tape with a regular scotch tape dispenser in the same heavy unit that I bought. But yours is way nicer! One thing about mine is, it’s kind of rounded over on all the corners and has a little Art Deco kind of look to it in black. Not unlike a 1950’s radio

Great fun - love the design process. Would using lead shot be a feasible approach - much like shot used in a dead drop hammer? Would like to see how using the x-carve to engrave your ID disc would turn out. Great result.

Really nice! Great tape dispenser, with nice machine gun sounds. Suggestion - skip casting the lead. Instead put it together, drill a hole in the bottom and fill it with bird shot. Mix some epoxy into the last bit of shot that fills the hole to seal the rest in.
