I’m a first timer and really enjoyed your video. I found myself thinking about my junior high shop class. Coach Cross was a wonderful teacher. Our first assignment was a box. We couldn’t build anything without a plan/drawing and it had to be to scale. No cutting up wood without the plan and we were supervised until we could be trusted. My box took weeks and wasn’t too bad but the drawing was better. You did a somewhat complicated box without a plan/drawing and it turned out perfectly. No drawing, no measurements and a perfect damn box with fancy features. Oh btw your equipment is nice stuff too. You’ve either edited all of that stuff out or you make that damn box all the time. Regardless, I loved your video and am in awe of your work

Lee Valley Tools makes hand tools that do simple things perfectly. I have a hard time resisting their tools that fall into the “because I want it” category. Holy cow! The grain! I think oak gets a bad image from all the 80’ and 90’s furniture that can be a little inelegant looking. This oak beautiful box madness is amazing and your use and selection and orientation really nailed it.

Hey man. I loved this build so much that i made my carpenter journeyman examination piece about it. I build a endgrain Chessboard and a chest for the pieces. All mesurments had to be taken in consideration of the pieces, and since i chose pritty big ones the chest got pritty large and heavy. I build in a hidden Drawer like yours but with a simpler mechanism. In the end it resembles your chest but of a higher quality with gold inlays, root veneer and purpleheart :D Bring back some of your disigns since i loved you Jewelry box aswell :D
