The U.S. has voted to stop daylight savings time. BUT the states haven't even tried to pass them in their states.

That’s not accurate. The Federal Government did not pass it into law. The Sunshine Protection Act didn’t make it through Congress. It passed the Senate but not the house. It just stalled out last year. Some States HAVE voted to end the time change. California voted for it in 2018 with 60% of the votes but they can’t enact it. More than 2 dozens states have been considering it but none have tried to pass legislation, that part is true. It would need to go through legislation with 75% of vote but even then they can’t enact permanent daylight savings time without the Federal Government passing it into law. What States CAN do is pass legislation to adopt permanent standard time (which is better for mental health and safety. Many experts were fighting it because there’d be such little light in the mornings in the winter kids would be walking to school in the dark especially in the western end of the country, they assert that permanent standard time would be better). So like Arizona and Hawaii who have permanent standard time, any state that passed legislation for permanent standard time should be exempt from the federal law of permanent DST if it were to ever pass. OR they can pass legislation for permanent DST but can’t do anything about it without it becoming a federal law. It’s been introduced every year for the past 6 years and every year it dies in the committee. It’s much more likely for States to pass legislation to adopt permanent standard time than for it to happen on a Federal level. And they should! If they don’t want to be stuck with kids walking to school in the dark for 4 1/2 months of the year the only way to protect themselves is to adopt permanent standard time. So If you want change, contact your local/ state representatives because as of now, there’s zero movement on it.

Very funny and true about the crazy daylight savings clock change. However we need to KEEP daylight savings all year round. That would give us more sunlight during winter. It gets dark early in winter because we are OFF of daylight savings time

I agree. Why do I need an extra hour of evening light, in the warm months? The kids need it after school so they can play in it longer. It's dark in the a.m. when most get up, so it doesn't help anyone much in the morning. 6:01
