I actually tried to strike up a side deal with Eli while i was a waiter (a cleaning contract to come in 1x per month to deep clean/dust the place) but he politely turned me down. He only does business with "The Family" or other "Chosen People"/other Jews. He didnt say that but he let his intentiins be known and i got it. And i wasnt mad at him! I lived in NYC for a long time so I respect the game. Thats just how business works. He did give me guaranteed shifts and tables if i came in :30 early to clean just a little bit. You know how ruthless it can be when they cut waiters during "Huddle" on slow days. Everybody stands up and if they dont have 5 pens, clean uniform tucked in and their "bank" of at least $20...Corky would cut your ass! So i was thankful. A slow day for them in summer is ONLY, like, expecting $25K a day ingross revenue...based on real time data...vs the $32k they made that same day the year before. But after i did my cleaning thing for about 2 weeks he gave me advice. He pulled me to the side and said that theres no money in cleaning service for restaurants. If i wanted REAL money, go i should go into HVAC/Refrigeration. Evidently, theres not a lot of Jewish companies that come in to fix broken A/Cs, water heaters and freezers. And without that, Board of Health shuts you down. So resturants need that service. He had a guy already but told me every restauranteer needs a reliable serviceman. I respect that. The damn managers though...they gave my black ass HELL!
